This beautiful 17th century former farmstead has been transformed into a sumptuous dwelling that offers groups of up to 12 guests a charming retreat just outside Deal in Kent. This marvellous home provides a great setting for a family celebration or a getaway with friends, with grand social living spaces, super-comfy furnishings and a peaceful garden where you can relax in the sunshine.

Once you arrive and drop your bags off in your bedrooms, you can gather in the cosy lounge and plot the day ahead. This is a lovely spot to enjoy a morning coffee or evening tipple, with its big comfy sofas and charming exposed beamed ceiling. When it comes to meal prep, the kitchen is nicely equipped with everything you need to prepare hearty breakfasts, picnic lunches or grand dinners during your stay. If you want to spread out and relax then head to the library, that’s nicely stocked with books and games, or pop to the bar where you can mix yourself an evening cocktail.

In another life Updown Farmhouse is a bed and breakfast, which means that all six of the superb ensuite bedrooms have been lovingly appointed to offer you and your loved ones a truly relaxing place to unwind. The rooms offer a combination of king, super-king and twin beds, providing you with plenty of flexibility when booking. Some rooms are grand with separate seating areas and Georgian windows overlooking the garden, as well as ensuite bathrooms with big, luxury bathtubs. Other rooms are more on the cosy side, offering a snug and warm place to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep with views out across the treetops.

The farmhouse sits on seven acres of land and you’re welcome to wander the surrounding gardens and woodlands, where there are a number of secluded spots offer you the chance to sit out in peace away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the group. There’s also an outdoor kitchen here, should you wish to whip up some food alfresco.

If you want to venture slightly further afield then you can pop into Deal for the day. Deal, a charming seaside town in Kent, offers a variety of activities for visitors. Explore the historic Deal Castle, built by Henry VIII, and stroll along the picturesque pebble beach. Enjoy shopping in quaint boutiques or savour fresh seafood at local restaurants. The nearby Walmer Castle, with its stunning gardens, is perfect for a leisurely day out. For nature enthusiasts, the beautiful Sandwich Bay and its nature reserve offer fantastic walking trails and birdwatching opportunities, making Deal a delightful getaway.
