Located in its own private woodland with views across the treetops and out to sea is The Woodman’s Wagon Treehouse. This handcrafted cabin perfectly combines off-grid living with modern luxury while being surrounded by the beautiful Devonshire countryside.
Sleeping two guests, inside is surprisingly spacious yet cosy with a corrugated iron roof overhead and wood-panelled walls. A comfy sofa sits in front of the wood burning stove - which ensures the cabin stays toasty and warm, even when the weather outside is not. There are gas rings for cooking, along with equipment and basics such as tea, coffee, and herbs to get you started.
The handmade king-size bed is truly one of a kind and has sumptuous bedding and linen to ensure a great night’s sleep. There is even a full bath with a window opening fully out onto your stunning surroundings, where you can simply relax and unwind.
French doors lead out onto the large sundeck, which stretches out into the treetops. Here there is outdoor furniture and an Indian fire bowl with barbecue grill where you can prepare some culinary delights to enjoy al fresco. Guests can also make use of the outdoor shower. The Woodman’s Wagon Treehouse is all about getting back to nature and there is no better place to do that than in your own eight-acre woodland.
For those dining in it’s worth visiting the Powderham Country Store in Kenton, which is a great farm shop and has its own butchery and bakery. The nearby Kennford Post Office and Stores also has plenty of essentials, while for those who want to eat out The Ley Arms in Kenn is a great country pub.
The other fantastic thing about the cabin is its location, with the beach of Dawlish in one direction and stunning Dartmoor and its array of hikes and cycle rides in the other. The River Exe Estuary is a haven for nature lovers and is famous for birdwatching, while there are also opportunities to spot deer, badgers, and foxes.
On the river itself is the floating River Exe Cafe and its superb selection of seafood. The historic city of Exeter with its array of restaurants, bars, and shops is also close by.
