Leave a reviewOn arrival at the windmill we were met by Alan who have us a brief history of the windmill which was fantastic , on entering the windmill you could tell how beautifully it was decorated , it was very clean , comfortable and modern . The hosts had thought of everything to make us comfortable . The views at the top of the windmill are stunning and we watched the sunset which was beautiful , watching red kites flying close was brilliant . We had a visit to Waddesdon Manor and it was hosting the chilli festival so that was fun , we had our evening meal in the Hotel attached to the manor which was amazing , the Akeman pub served a lovely meal as did a lovely pub in Brill near the Old working windmill . We took a trip to the local brewery in Brill and spent a few hours chatting to the locals . Bicester Village is a trip worth doing . It was a lovely anniversary weekend away and we will most definitely be going back hopefully before Christmas so we can visit the manor at Christmas Thank you to Alan and Christina for a wonderful stay .

The Windmill is a unique place to stay with a fascinating history. We arrived and were immediately greeted by the owner who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He told us about The Windmill and recommended some places to visit nearby. His recommendation of Waddesdon Manor was one we took up and we were really glad we did. He then left us to settle in. You are required to leave your shoes at the front door, something we do at our house in any case, so my advice would be to bring slippers with you as the stairs can be a little hard on the soles of the feet! The bedroom is compact but with a good amount of space to hang and store clothes. The kitchen is really impressive with a hob (although you will definitely need the instruction book if you don't have one at home!) and a microwave if you decide to cook your own meals. I was most impressed with the herbs and spices in the cupboard which was unexpected and a great example of the extra details that The Windmill specialises in. There is a fridge with a freezer compartment and a microwave so it is every inch a fully equipped space. The top floor has lovely views across the surrounding countryside and is the perfect place to relax particularly after a long journey. There are brochures from various nearby attractions and a welcome binder with a huge amount of detail. If you are staying for one night only like us you will find that the ideas for visits will be filed away for future reference, but if you are there for two or three you certainly won't be bored in the surrounding area. It is a place with a view that comes into its own in the morning with the chance of seeing a Kite and the opportunity to quietly take in nature on its own terms. If you are looking for somewhere genuinely different then The Windmill is absolutely perfect at any time of the year for any occasion.
