Explore Highland life from these luxurious houses that offer you panoramic views across Loch Broom and a private sauna.
The Stonehouses are two luxuriously equipped retreats, with panoramic views across Loch Broom and out to the Summer Isles. They are spacious, yet cosy, with full under floor heating and wood burning stoves in the open plan living areas.
Built by the owners, a team of local crafts people and artisans, the houses were designed by a local Hebridean architect with the aim of bringing together traditional building techniques with modern design and environmental considerations. The Stonehouses are cocooned with recycled insulation and are fully underfloor heated by air-source heat pumps with solar water heating and an LPG backup to ensure that you are never low on piping hot water. The wood burning stove provides a warming focal point in the living space, whilst the natural building materials (local wood and stone) and the green turf roof allow the buildings to merge with their surroundings.
The curved stone house is a spacious two bedroom property with a double bedroom with en-suite and a second twin or double bedroom with a second shower room and WC. Features include a luxury freestanding bath and spacious sauna with double drench-head shower. The large open plan kitchen/dining and living areas create a spacious, modern space with stunning views from the floor to ceiling windows. The house has a spacious, south westerly facing spill out area and panoramic windows, from which you can view the dramatic West Highland vistas and sunsets out across the Summer Isles.
Treetop is a unique property for up to three people. It includes a luxury en-suite double bedroom and a single bedroom with its own shower and WC. Treetop is perched on the edge of a gorge with a small stream which transforms into a cascade of waterfalls in wet weather. Its elevated position gives it its name, with panoramic views of mountain, sea and island vistas over the top of the indigenous forest of birch, rowan and ash. While both our properties have fantastic views, Treetop's elevated position perhaps gives it a particular prime position with almost 360 degree views of forest, sea, mountain and stream. With a sauna, luxury freestanding bath, drench head showers, cosy wood burning stove and intimate and private spill out spaces this is a perfect romantic retreat.
Seldom a week goes by when there is not live music in the pubs and arts centres in Ullapool. Renowned Scottish musicians and up and coming national (and even international) talent make Ullapool a stop on Scottish tours. There is also of course whisky to be sampled, innumerable walks to be savoured around Ullapool and even from the doorstep of the Stonehouses, wildlife to be discovered and adventurous climbs, golf or a pony trek if you’d like. In the summer, wildlife and scenery can be explored by taking one of a number of island tours from Ullapool (Isle Martin and Summer Isles) and Achiltibuie (Summer Isles).
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
