The Old Dairy is one of those properties that manages to put an elegant and contemporary twist on a countryside classic. With one eye on the past, it manages to blend the new, with a combination of rustic and mid-20th century aesthetics. Sitting on the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire border, it provides a fantastic base for those wanting to explore some of England's most picturesque farmland. Sleeping up to six guests across three double rooms, The Old Dairy is perfect for friend groups, families, or small celebrations.
The downstairs is primarily comprised of the large open planned living area - complete with large chandelier and vaulted timber framed ceiling. Here, guests can curl up on the sofa, make use of the spacious and fully equipped island kitchen, and enjoy an evening meal around the eight-seater dining table. A gallery with a work desk overlooks the living area from the top of the stairs, while the separate snug provides the perfect area to relax with a good book or enjoy a spot of TV in private. The ground floor also contains a boot room and separate WC.
There are three double bedrooms in the barn - each with their own ensuite luxury bathrooms. The master bedroom has a super king bed, and the other first floor bedroom has a super king which can be split into two singles. One of these double rooms is situated on the ground floor and benefits from a set of French doors leading onto a private terrace. Every bedroom also has a desk, and the poperty is nicely equipped with super fast broadband for work. However, this is also ideal for streaming movies, with guests having access to Netflix, Amazon and Sky.
One of the most notable features of The Old Dairy is its beautiful garden which was designed by an award winning Chelsea designer. This large outdoor space is wonderfully maintained and contains ample outdoor seating. Whether you fancy a spot of al fresco dining or a relaxing nightcap with your fellow guests, this is the ideal spot to spend the evening hours.
The local area is replete with things to do. There are several walking and cycling paths with direct access from the property, and you can even borrow some bikes from the barn. Grafham Water is 15 mins by car, and provides lots of water-based activities as well as a great cycling route. For horse owners, the owners can provide stabling if you wish to bring your own horses or ponies with you. Keysoe Equestrian Centre is 10-minutes away, as is Backnoe End Riding school. Sporting Targets - one of the UK's largest clay pigeon shooting clubs - is also a 10-minute drive. The area also contains Twinwoods Adventure Centre. Here, patrons can try several activities including skydiving, surfing, racing, climbing, and archery. Bedford Aerodrome Racetrack is also a short drive. For those seeking a slice of urban life, the historic university city of Cambridge is 45-minutes by car.

Leave a reviewThe old dairy was absolutely beautiful, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend away! It is incredibly clean and very well equipped for home cooking. Communication with miranda was excellent and we were sent a good list of recommendations before arrival. The hot tub was definitely an added bonus and would recommend!

I booked the Old Dairy for a family break during half term, celebrating 2 birthdays and we were not disappointed! A really lovely barn that has been renovated to a very high standard, offering space, luxury and home comforts. A great location, really peaceful and good for walks but, so close to a number of activities, shopping and Cambridge city centre. Hosts were also brilliant, from the moment I booked, to the moment we left. Stocked the pantry with general essentials and were attentive during the stay if we needed anything. I highly recommend staying here and we will book again.
