Grade II listed mansion in Bedfordshire set in beautiful grounds with an indoor pool and hot tub, games room, cosy fires, a BBQ and a tennis court.
This beautiful Grade II listed gem has something for everyone. From tennis to snooker or lazing in the hot tub after a dip in the pool, it's the perfect choice for a large group looking to unwind in a classically decorated mansion with all the modern amenities. There are 10 bedrooms sleeping up to 30 people and with six bathrooms there won't be any lengthy queues!
As you approach Milton House along the private driveway you'll get the first glimpse of this gorgeous red brick home and its gardens. The house is deceptively large and when you step inside you'll find a classic décor of antique furniture, a chesterfield armchair and thick draped floor length curtains reminding you of the home's grand age.
The drawing room is a large opulent affair with plush sofas and armchairs where everyone can gather for a welcome drink by the two roaring fireplaces. If it's a sunny day you might like to start in the conservatory and sink into one of the wicker chairs to gaze at the views of the garden. Both rooms are big enough to accommodate everyone and there's room to spread out and socialise in style.
The kitchen, with its delightful green Aga, comes fully equipped for the preparation of celebratory feasts but if you'd rather lounge with a cocktail, the owners will be happy to provide a list of private chefs for hire. And when it's time to eat you'll find an impressive dining room with a large elegant table that comfortably sits 22 and there are extra tables and chairs if you need them.
The outbuilding houses a large games room with a snooker table, table tennis, a dart board and a big sofa for movie nights. This is an excellent place to chill after dinner with a beer before heading up the staircase to bed.
The conservatory is a great spot for a morning coffee and if the weather is nice you might like to head out on to the patio to take in the full glory of the garden whilst making plans for the day. Those plans might involve an early dip in the pool followed by a soak in the hot tub, a game of tennis, a stroll to the lake or simply curling up by the fire with a good book. It would be very easy to stay in the grounds for your whole visit and never get bored.
Milton House is gloriously secluded but within easy reach of Bedford town centre if you'd like to explore. If you're into your microbreweries you could pop into the Brewhouse And Kitchen for a sample and some great food. Or if you like something a bit more quirky and gothic, try The Standard. There's plenty to choose from, just take a stroll along the river and see where you land. At the end of the day you can return to Milton House for a long lazy supper in the dining room or a casual BBQ on the patio.
