The detail

Enjoy an escape immersed in old-English character and charm without compromising on 21st century luxuries in this beautifully renovated former coaching inn. Step over the well-worn doorstep of this pretty red brick home and be immediately struck by the stylish charm created by the sensitive furnishings and fittings.

Beautiful antique cabinets and dressers fill the property - there isn't a piece of Scandi flat pack in sight - and original oils adorn the walls. Authentic features, including fireplaces and coving, maintain the character of this wonderful property.

Enter into the cosy lounge and get comfy on the welcoming sofa which sits by an open working fireplace. With wooden shutters to keep out stormy nights, this is the place to get cosy by a roaring fire, play board games and swap stories.

The sumptuous lounge is contrasted beautifully with the thoroughly modern kitchen. The vibe may be 18th century but the conveniences are state-of-the-art. A large island sits in the centre of this modern space, cooks can crank up the tunes on the Alexa sound system and chat away to other guests as they chop and sizzle. The island has comfy seating for four, so doubles nicely as a convenient breakfast bar. There is also a handsome wooden dining table for more formal meals.

Climb the twisty wooden staircase to the magical bedrooms, each named after former proprietors and luxuriously furnished and decorated, always in-keeping with the character of the home.

The main bedroom has a comfy double bed and then there is a comfy king size bed located on a mezzanine overlooking its own lounge/dressing area with an ensuite shower room. There are two further bedrooms, a doubles and a twin, both with cosy bedding and high quality linens.

The Old Wheatsheaf is located in Northamptonshire just four miles from the famous Silverstone racing circuit, which many guests will be keen to visit. Refuel after a day at the races at the popular Saracens Head pub or the Moghul Rooms both in Towcester, a short work from the property.
