Re:treat Glamping is a luxury, off-grid lodge, set in the glorious, bucolic outback of the rural Bedfordshire countryside. Nestled beside a pond on a 21 acre estate, it is a secluded hideaway for reconnecting with nature’s greats. Watch for the swooping barn owls and the soaring red kites or spot darting deer in the grassy meadows dotted with rabbit holes.
The handcrafted safari lodge is packed with an abundance of glamping splendours and has a massive veranda with views across the waters. Built on its own sturdy timber platform and with a wood and canvas design, the iconic retreat leaves nothing to be desired. Drink champagne by the water and cocoa beside the fire, sinking gooey marshmallows and gazing up at the clear, starlit skies.
Step beyond the veranda, to find the open-plan living quarters with their shabby-chic style and natural textures. Pad on their thick wooden floorboards and light the large wood burning stove. Rest and relax on the comfy leather sofas for an evening of socialising before filling the soothing hot water bottles and heading off for a comfy night's sleep.
The vintage chest is filled with games that you can all play around the table, and be sure to peek in the welcome hamper and taste the local, homemade goodies. An open plan kitchen is on hand for your everyday cooking needs with a freestanding butler sink unit, integral gas hob and solar-powered fridge. As well as providing welcome heat, the woodburning stove also has an integral oven and stove top hob. You can even find LED lanterns and solar-powered lights, along with solar-powered USB charging points for those gadgets you can’t leave behind.
Head beyond the kitchen to find two of the three tranquil bedrooms, complete with sink-in beds and an array of warm, cosy blankets. There’s the gorgeous master double with its romantic four poster bed, opposite a triple family room with a double and a single bunk bed. The third double bedroom is off the main living room and is an cosy king-size den bed for a couple or two children. Wake in the mornings and retreat to the back of the lodge, where you’ll find your own hot water shower and modern flushing toilet.
If you want to relax ever further, you can book a private restorative yoga or meditation session, with Rachel at Adventure Yoga. Choose from a wide variety of classes from Vinyasa Flow, Meditation or a fun filled family session. Mats are provided, so all you need to bring is yourself!
Re:treat Glamping is really family friendly. Choose from a wide range of indoor games and board games or take your pick from the outdoor games chest of favourites including swingball, rounders and cricket. There is also a pond dipping kit for the pond and a pedal tractor and trailer for younger guests. A box of toddler books, toys and tableware are also available free on request as well as hire of a travel cot and highchair.
Make the most of the beautiful surroundings and create a wonderful memento of your holiday with a family photo session. Guests can now book a fabulous family/group photo session with Kate Elizabeth Photography. Katie uses mother nature as the backdrop to create some truly stunning natural portraits.
When it comes to filling your days, you really are spoilt for choice with endless country adventures right on your doorstep. Throw a line in the pond or read a book beneath the trees, walking through the the meadow fields and playing rounders in the Old Orchard. Light the smoking tripod BBQ or head to the nearby village pubs on the network of footpaths on your doorstep. Historic Wrest Park with it’s sumptuous house, stunning grounds and children’s play area is only a stones throw away in neighbouring Silsoe. Leave a reviewWe had the most wonderful stay at Jo's wonderful Glamping Safari accommodation. It is set in a very secluded and private patch of paradise with a little lake. This is a professionally designed and built large glamping accommodation with hard and soft shell. Build with the best materials, and furnished with everything one would need for a relaxing, very peaceful retreat away in summer or winter. Jo is a professional by career and very friendly and attentive, paying close attention to the needs and requests of guests, to safety and fun. I slept so well on the comfortable beds. Shower is large and appealing , toilet & basin area is large, clean and bright. We will certainly be going back the first chance we get. Thank you to Jo

I booked this four night stay at Re:treat as a surprise holiday for my husband. We were both over the moon with our stay. A unique glamping holiday set amongst beautiful scenery with complete and utter privacy. The accommodation was wonderful with beautiful creative touches and great attention to detail to ensure comfort and delight wherever you looked. You are far from the maddening crowd here and can totally relax but at the same time are walkable to the friendly local pub and a short drive into nearby towns for shopping. Jo was a great hostess and was on hand whenever we needed anything. jo’s Thai chicken curry was a welcome and delicious meal pre cooked and ordered for our arrival and Jo is also amazing at reflexology. Highly recommend this place if you want to get away from it all. Charming and tranquil, we will definitely come back and have recommended it to all our friends. Thank you Jo it was a lovely experience.
