The ultimate glamping retreat, this beautiful Turkoman-style yurt offers couples a romantic break in the charming Buckinghamshire countryside. Constructed using coppiced sweet chestnut poles for the trellis and walls, and marvellous local ash for the roof ribs, this handcrafted yurt harks back to an age gone by offering you and a loved one the chance to relax and unwind in peace.
The centre of the yurt features a clear covered wheel, offering you lovely views of the sky during the day and allowing you to stargaze at night. Cosy rugs and blankets keep you toasty and warm, along with the natural wool lining the yurt and the beautiful wood-burning fireplace.
When the weather’s warm, step outside into your private wild garden where you can relax and unwind in your hot tub, offering the perfect place to enjoy an indulgent soak. There’s also a hammock here, where you can unwind with a good book in the shade in peace. And, to top it off, there’s also a sauna on-site that you can book for sessions, adding to the luxurious feel of your stay.
Back inside the yurt, you’ve got a comfy sofa for indoor relaxing, and a king size bed that guarantees a delightful night’s sleep. Wake feeling refreshed and head to your luxurious shower room in a separate cabin with a fantastic walk-in shower where you can enjoy a wash with lovely woodland views. There’s also a composting loo for you to use during your stay.
The kitchen, again situated in a separate cabin, is filled with basic essentials, such as tea and coffee. When it comes to enjoying your meals, there are two dining tables, one inside the yurt and another outside offering a spot for alfresco dining.
Whilst the yurt is designed for two, offering a lovely destination for a romantic retreat, there is space for two additional guests, when pre-arranged, with the use of two additional futons.
The nearby village of Wendover, nestled in the stunning Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offers a wealth of outdoor activities, as well as some lovely pubs, restaurants and cafes, and is only a five-minute walk from your door. Walkers can enjoy the Ridgeway National Trail, Coombe Hill and Wendover Woods, which provide breathtaking views and scenic trails.
Cyclists will love the Chilterns Cycleway, while history enthusiasts can visit the 11th century St Mary’s Church or the nearby Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden. The area also boasts charming pubs, independent shops and wildlife spotting opportunities, making it perfect for a countryside escape.
