Surrounded by unspoilt countryside in the New Forest National Park, this chocolate box cottage is a romantic bolthole for two. While the home is steeped in 500 years of history, inside, it’s modern yet understated, with wood accents adding a touch of rustic charm and an abundance of luxe fabrics, not to mention all the creature comforts you need for a laidback visit. Outside, the decking, complete with a seating area, overlooks the valley – it’s the perfect spot to sip a G&T and watch the wildlife.
Enter through the stable door and make yourself at ease in the cosy living space. The country-style design and sumptuous soft furnishings encourage putting your feet up with a paperback and a mug of tea. The sofa can be turned into a bed upon request, sleeping an extra adult or a child. Head through to the fully equipped kitchen to cook up a storm using ingredients picked up from a local farm shop.
In the bedroom, the double bed dressed in crisp, white sheets is supremely comfortable, and the non-feather bedding ensures a blissful sleep for allergy sufferers. You'll find plenty of wardrobe space for those planning a long break, and the full-length mirror comes in handy for preening before heading out for dinner in nearby Salisbury. When you’re ready to wash off the day, make a beeline for the large waterfall shower in the adjacent bathroom.
The decking outside the home features a dining table for enjoying breakfast in the sunshine and two chairs for sitting back and soaking up the glorious surroundings; if you’re lucky, you may notice ponies and cows roaming the valley.
If exploring is on the agenda, the North Taste Trail is only 100 yards from your doorstep. Cycling fans should join the off-road track, which loops for 15 miles, heading across Hampton Ridge to reach the hamlet of Fritham. Should you need to make a pit stop, The Foresters pub is just up the road, and The Royal Oak is around 1.4 miles away. For a slap-up feast, book a table at Les Mirabelles.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 5 nights high season
