This carefully thought-out barn combines luxury with rustic charm and is ideal for a couple seeking a comfortable base after long walks through the countryside. Enjoy being lulled to sleep by the sound of the River Liddel after soothing tired muscles in the infrared sauna. There is also a furnished outdoor space here, encouraging alfresco dining on warm afternoons – keep an eye out for herons, buzzards and even golden eagles as you tuck into your lunch.
Open the glass doors and enter into the living area. A light colour scheme creates a sense of space, while the leather armchairs and wood-burning stove add a touch of cosiness. The kitchenette is compact yet fully equipped with everything you’ll need to rustle up something tasty, and the dining table is strategically placed by the window, meaning you’ll never miss out on the glorious views when you dig into your meals.
When you’re ready to call it a night, the bedroom, with its sumptuous king size bed dressed in crisp sheets, ensures a soundless snooze. From the bedroom, you’ll enter the bathroom, which boasts a deep Victorian cast iron bath and a large sports infrared sauna. This is the perfect place to enjoy some luxurious relaxation after a day exploring the marvellous surrounding countryside.
Step outside onto the decking and nurse a cup of tea as you watch the world pass by. Stretch your legs with a wander around the immediate area, or take the short drive to Kielder Waterside Park for various outdoor activities. For something a little different, head to the Kielder Observatory at night-time and admire the constellations. On days when you’d prefer to let the professionals take care of the cooking, it’s only a 15-minute drive to Newcastleton’s pubs, cafes and restaurants.
