The gatehouse of the former Easton Hall has been transformed into cosy holiday accommodation and now provides a rural escape for two. The Victorian gatehouse has been carefully restored, preserving some of the beautiful original features while introducing contemporary furnishings from Laura Ashley and Vanessa Arbuthnot. There are also 12 acres of ground to explore and The Gatehouse Lodge is located in the beautiful Easton Walled Gardens. Guests can wander through the gardens and enjoy the enchanting scenery even when they are closed to day visitors. This makes for a tranquil getaway which combines the best of country style with modern comforts.
Step into The Gatehouse Lodge and you’ll find the kitchen, sitting room, and library on the ground floor. It’s warm and welcoming at any time of year thanks to underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove in the sitting room. The kitchen is fully-equipped, even featuring a wine cooler, and there’s a small kitchen table with room for two. The sitting room is a cosy space, perfect for curling up in front of the stove after a day exploring. Borrow a DVD or a book from the library next door and settle in for the evening. The sitting room also leads out onto a private terrace which overlooks the Velvet Border of Easton Walled Gardens. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening while soaking up the scenery.
Head up the spiral staircase and you’ll come to the double bedroom with luxurious ensuite bathroom. The super king-size bed can be made into a twin if required and crisp, fresh sheets and fluffy towels and robes will be waiting for you on arrival. In the bathroom, you’ll find a walk-in shower and a separate bath.
As well as direct access to the grounds and gardens of Easton Hall, guests can book bespoke beauty treatments on-site, including Hot Stone and Deep Tissue Massage, Reflexology and Facials. There’s a shop on the estate and even a pub, The Cholmeley Arms, which offers delicious home-cooked food and roaring fires. If you want to explore more of the local area, you’ll find charming market towns, beautiful rolling countryside and grand country houses aplenty. Go for a stroll or a bike ride at Rutland Water, home to more than 25,000 waterfowl. Discover some of the region’s spectacular architecture with visits to Lincoln Cathedral or Burghley House. Or wander the streets of the Georgian town of Stamford and explore its boutique shops and eateries. In the evening, return to the cosy Gatehouse Lodge, put your feet up in front of the wood-burner and relax.
