Step back in time onto this restored 1950's Pullman railway carriage, with the added luxury of 21st century amenities and enjoy a truly romantic retreat. The Carriage is set on tracks where the original train line ran through Ullock on the fringe of the Lake District National Park, with the river Marron running down below. Re-live a unique journey with the addition of being able to step out onto the platform for sunbathing, breakfast or your evening meal, then retire to the antique king size bed with its dressing room and ensuite bathroom. This really is a must for every trainspotter looking for a quirky getaway.
On entering the carriage, you are welcomed into a luxurious, open-plan living area with a dining table and bar. This has been thoughtfully renovated and equipped to be a comfortable living space whilst retaining all the charm of Pullman travel. You will find some of the original train fittings for that authentic experience combined with luxurious furnishings for a boutique chic ambience. An original dining compartment with a sliding door, reproduction seating and table provides the perfect place to enjoy some board games or to eat your meals in style.
Carry on down the hall to the well-equipped kitchen which features Royal Doulton crockery, a few treats and everything you will need to create first-class meals.
The beautiful dressing room and bedroom carry on the 50s glamour with a sumptuous king size antique bed and wooden wall panelling. Spacious and comfortable, this elegant room will ensure you have the most restful of sleeps.
The carriage stands in lovely private grounds overlooking the river below. The outside seating area is a lovely place to relax and look down on the hive of wildlife activity around the river and the trees at the bottom of the grounds. Try to spot some red squirrels which inhabit the area or just sit back with a glass of wine and luxuriate in the tranquility of your surroundings.
Your cosy home-from-home is perfectly located for visiting the northern lakes and forests as well as the seaside in the other direction. It is also very well positioned when it comes to making the most of the beautiful area. Keswick, Cockermouth, Loweswater, the railway at Ravenglass, Whitehaven, Derwentwater, Buttermere and various other magnificent places are all within easy reach. There is also a pub within about 20 minutes' walking distance.
