Tucked away in the peaceful Aeron Valley in Ceredigion, The Bwthyn is a superbly restored 400-year-old retreat that offers groups of up to four guests a calming stay with incredible views of rolling green countryside. This traditional Welsh cottage was originally crafted from Clom - a unique blend of earth, clay and horsehair - giving it thick, ultra-insulated walls that keep things wonderfully cosy.
Inside, you’ll find an old bread oven that was still in use until recently, a nod to its heritage as Ty Pawr - the "Bread House". Authentic, atmospheric and full of rustic charm, this home-from-home keeps some of its original features, whilst incorporating modern day amenities to ensure you and your loved ones have a truly comfortable stay.
The cottage has an unusual layout that pays homage to its original design. That means that all four guests will sleep in the same space, with a super comfy king size bed for two, and a sofa in the same space that can convert into a double. This means that The Bwthyn is perfect for small families or groups of very close friends, who won’t mind sharing the same sleeping space. You're also welcome to pitch a tent in the garden if you wish!
Spend your days here socialising outside on your tranquil patio, where you’ll find an alfresco dining table that offers you the chance to dine in the sunshine whilst taking in the incredible views. The patio also offers a BBQ for grilling up local produce, whilst the pair of outdoor bathtubs allow you to unwind in peace as the stars come out above. Relax here and watch the red kites fly over the valley whilst taking in the incredible sunset.
Back inside, the cottage’s extension features a modern kitchen that is equipped with everything you’ll need to whip up a delicious feast. There’s also a superb indoor dining table that sits next to a big window allowing you to dine together indoors whilst staying connected to your surroundings. The dining table also offers a fantastic place to catch up with some work, providing you with the ideal setting for a workation.
