Tyn Y Coed Cottage is a picture-perfect, quaint rural retreat sitting in a peaceful and private wood. Surrounded by ancient trees, this 300-year-old cottage offers groups of up to six a relaxing break in the Brecon Beacons. Inside, the cosy cottage has retained many of its original features, including exposed wooden beams, beautiful inglenook fireplaces, cottage latch doors and a solid stone kite winding staircase.
When you arrive you’ll want to get comfy in the living room, which has a large, plump sofa where you can tuck into a good book as you throw logs on the wood-burning fireplace. This is a great place to while away the evening chatting to loved ones, and the 40 inch LCD TV has a full Sky package and a DVD player making it ideal for movie nights or box set marathons. There is also a collection of family board games for you to choose from, as well as a number of toys for the kids, so it’s easy to stay entertained throughout your stay.
When it comes to meal prep, the cottage has a traditional style kitchen with a big range cooker and a fab Belfast sink sitting in oak worktops. Get to work cooking up some delicious local produce, before dining together on the extensive country table and chairs that share the space. There’s also a dishwasher, so no one’s lumbered with the washing up afterwards.
Upstairs, you’ll find three beautifully styled bedrooms, each designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Solid oak furniture, warm ambient lighting and elegant, high-quality curtains set the tone for a truly restful night’s sleep.
The spacious king size bedroom comes with its own ensuite shower room for that added touch of privacy. The versatile middle bedroom can be set up as either a twin or a king size room to suit your needs. The third bedroom is a cosy twin, perfect for family or friends.
Each bed features a luxurious pocket-sprung mattress, dressed in fine linens and premium pillows. All three bedrooms are also equipped with their own TV/DVD players, offering access to Sky TV channels for those lazy mornings or cosy evenings in.
Step through the patio doors from either the kitchen or the living room and you’ll enter the enchanting gardens. These serene outdoor spaces invite you to unwind with a good book, soak up the tranquil sounds of birdsong or marvel at the majestic Red Kites soaring overhead. Out here is where you'll find the luxurious hot tub, the ideal place for an indulgent soak come the evening.
The gardens are also a safe haven for little ones to play freely while you kick back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. With a few fun rope swings hanging from the trees and fields just waiting to be explored, it’s a countryside escape that will delight both kids and grown-ups alike.
When it comes to filling your days, the Brecon Beacons offers an array of unforgettable activities for all ages. Explore Dan-yr-Ogof and the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, a natural wonder filled with awe-inspiring caverns, 200 life-size dinosaurs and family-friendly fun. Thrill-seekers will love the Llangorse Multi-Activity Centre, featuring climbing walls, zip slides and horse riding.
For nostalgia, hop aboard the Brecon Mountain Railway, a steam train ride alongside stunning reservoirs. Nature lovers can enjoy Llangorse Lake for sailing and wildlife, or conquer Pen y Fan, the park’s highest peak. Discover the romantic ruins of Carreg Cennen Castle, chase waterfalls in Waterfall Country or stargaze under the park’s Dark Sky Reserve.
