Nestled within a sprawling private green space replete with wildlife, a pond, barbecue area, and a playground, the Bird Lodges are a collection of three log cabins, decked out with high-end amenities. These luxurious cabins offer the perfect accommodation solution for groups of up to six guests looking to spend time in the glorious Lake District national park.
Sufficiently private that you’ll feel at one with nature yet conveniently close to the small settlement of Ravenstonedale, all three self-catering cabins represent the dream escape for families or friends looking to visit the real Lake District in comfort and style.
Each of the cabins has been carefully crafted from local timber, creating well-insulated and authentic spaces. Internally, the cabins are finished to a high standard. Well appointed kitchens include a fridge freezer, induction hob, integrated fan-assisted oven and even a dishwasher, so that you can maximise your time out on the fells and the peaks, rather than being stuck at the lodge on washing up duty. Meals prepared in the kitchen using locally sourced ingredients can then be served at the substantial dining tables which make up the centrepiece of each lodge’s dining room, or taken outside, to enjoy al-fresco in the famous Cumbrian light.
After supper, there are any number of relaxing activities inside and around the lodges, from snuggling up in front of the log-effect fire with a book, to heading out to one of the excellent local pubs. Each lodge also comes with a private outdoor hot tub, the perfect way to unwind after a long day’s hiking.
The cabins, Lapwing, Mallard and Curlew, are named for the local birds which you’re likely to see in the grounds. Sharing the same aesthetic emphasis on hygge, comfort, and pleasing, simple design, the three cabins are subtly different with three distinctive personalities.
Each property benefits from a three-bedroom layout, with a king-sized bed in the master bedroom, and two smaller bedrooms with bunk beds and twin singles respectively. For added versatility, the twins can be converted into a double, and up to two cots can be facilitated. Whether you remain in the cosy cabin by evening, chatting and watching the Freeview and DVD player enabled televisions (one in the master bedroom and one in the living room), or make the mile country stroll to Ravenstonedale, you’re in for a real treat.
Ravenstonedale has two marvellous local pubs, The Black Swan and The Kings Head, and a number of shops and eateries. Both pubs serve brilliant locally sourced pub food, as well as a fine selection of local ales. Head to the village of Newbiggin on Lune for all-levels trout fishing or indulge in a round of golf at the picturesque Riverside Golf Club.
