The Old Norse name for Skye, Skuyö, translates to “cloud isle” and is steeped in its Highland history. Combining the history of this delightful island with a love for Scandi design, this property is a home away from home, characterised by classic wooden floors, leafy green plants and a neutral colour palette. With a king size bed, a rustic wood burner, a hot tub and an enchanting Juliet balcony, this property is an endlessly romantic bolthole.
Surrounded by picturesque views, Skuyö makes for a peaceful couples’ holiday. Downstairs, guests can relax amidst a spacious, open-plan living area with a rustic wood burner, cosy faux fur throws, bundles of cushions and a large, neutral-coloured sofa ready to sink into. The big, glass double doors open out onto the vast expanses of the Isle of Skye skyline, which is bright and idyllic during the summer and moody and atmospheric in winter, ensuring this property is captivating year-round.
With dazzling white surfaces, a Bosch oven and marble countertops, the kitchen continues the Scandi theme, kitted out with everything necessary to cook up a romantic evening meal. For a warming evening drink or even a breakfast accompaniment, there’s a state-of-the-art Hotel Chocolat velvetiser, complete with hot chocolate sachets and marshmallows. The bathroom is equally impressive, hosting charming his and hers sinks, an opulent rainfall shower and a deep, freestanding bathtub, ideal for a long, hot soak. Embellished with marble surfaces, more glass doors welcome in the natural light, set against the backdrop of sea and mountain views.
Elsewhere, the stylish king size bedroom exudes a similarly peaceful vibe, opening out onto a Juliet-style balcony straight out of a fairy tale. Outside, the light-up hot tub provides another opportunity to relax and reset, perhaps accompanied by a glass of wine in the evening.
Situated on the idyllic Isle of Skye, Skuyö is an enchanting holiday retreat immersed in nature. For gorgeous views and geological sites, The Old Man of Storr and Neist Point are essential, as are Claigan Coral Beach and Loch Coruisk. If you’d like to learn more about the island’s history, amble on down to Dunvegan Castle and Gardens or the Skye Museum of Island Life, where you can step back in time to a 100-year-old Highland village and its cottages. For a local culinary experience, order at The Oyster Shed, offering a range of fresh Scottish seafood including its famous lobster and chips.

Leave a reviewSkuyo is perfection!! We arrived and immediately decided we didn't want to go anywhere. The downstairs living area consists of a modern kitchen with absolutely everything you need - even a Hotel Chocolat velvetiser for that extra-special luxury. Many treats were provided which made us feel special and cared for. Such a lovely welcome! The rest of the living area has a comfortable sofa, a hi-spec log burner stove and cinema-experience TV. Great for watching movies when its raining outside! The decor is tasteful nordic style with a calming colour palette. The bathroom is epic with dramatic green tiling, a futuristic shower and beautiful freestanding bath. Loved the remote controlled candles! The bedroom on the upper floor has a wonderfully comfortable bed and cosy throws and rugs with a lovely reading nook. Velux windows allow stargazing when it is clear outside. The outer area is amazing. Two seating areas: a picnic bench and comfy sofa/chairs for relaxing. The large fire pit is great for the evenings and enjoying the peace and quiet with a fantastic view. The best part is definitely the huge state-of-the-art Hydropool hot tub! It is touch screen controlled and has different settings to suit individual needs and jet preferences. Absolute heaven! We were truly sad to leave. Wouldn't change a thing at Skuyo, it was flawless. Rebecca & Matthew have created a wonderful and unique couple's retreat. Very honoured to have been the first guests. Cannot wait to go back!
