Couples looking for a remote getaway to somewhere far from the everyday should look no further than Elysium, a house on the Isle of Skye that straddles the boundary between indoors and the great outdoors with an award-winning architect for a designer.
Walls of glass provide stunning panoramic views while allowing you a feeling of being part of the island itself. Reclaimed and restored stonework from an ancient dyke add to a feeling of the house being simultaneously part of the history of this place yet also something more new and radical.
The floor-to-ceiling windows provide breathtaking views in both the living space and the bedroom. When the time comes to curl up for sleep, you’ve got the option to leave the electric blinds up on a clear night and rest in awe at the moon and stars. And if it’s cloudy, the blinds also function as a screen for the bedroom’s Samsung Freestyle projector; why not get cosy and watch a show or film streamed using its smart TV functionality (supported with excellent 5G coverage)?
When the morning comes, a glass door leads you out to the private garden space with outdoor seating for those moments of breathing in the wild and pure Hebridean air.
Back inside, the open plan living space with its locally handcrafted furnishings meets with a fully equipped kitchen. You’ll find amenities both fun and useful, such as an ice making machine, air fryer and a washer dryer. The heat of the kitchen is bolstered by the log fire, meaning that your stay can be delightfully warm no matter what the Scottish weather is doing outside.
The warmth is maintained in a delightfully sleek bathroom where you can enjoy underfloor heating as you approach the walk-in shower. Here a skylight continues your access to the light and sight of the outdoors. Luxury comes in the shape of plush robes and products from Arran Aromatics and the Isle of Skye Soap Company.
Elysium boasts a minimal environmental footprint, with renewable energy sources to fuel your stay. For anyone planning on driving up in an electric vehicle, an EV charger is also available.
The blissful views of the Torridon Mountains and Brothers Point will likely have you hungry to explore the island, and there’s plenty to take in. Skye has an array of gorgeous beaches that are as varied as they are beautiful.
The beaches are a treat in the summer, as are the famous Fairy Pools. Equally famous is Talisker Distillery, home of one the most recognisable single malt whiskies in the country. You’ll be able to find other distinct and delicious flavours at some of the island’s restaurants, where local delicacies such as hand-dived scallops will provide your stay with further standout memories.

Due to our remoteness, we cannot accommodate one or two-night stays, so we encourage you to explore the possibility of extending your stay!

This cottage has everything you could possibly need, even down to a thoughtfully included ice machine. It offers a peaceful oasis, surrounded by breathtaking views that capture the beauty of the landscape. The interior is modern yet cozy, with a warm ambiance that immediately makes you feel at home. The added conveniences like a washing machine and dryer make longer stays comfortable and easy. It's easily one of the most beautiful cottages we've ever stayed in. On top of all that, the host is incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant stay from start to finish. If I could I gave 6 stars! Highly recommended!
