Marvellous and historic cottage in Anglesey offering exposed beams, cosy wood-burners and amazing sea and country views.
This charming retreat overlooks Anglesey’s beloved Rhoscolyn beach (Borth Wen) and offers a beautiful stay for groups of up to 10 guests in North Wales. A striking building from the outside, Plas has a warm and homely interior that encourages you and your loved ones to relax and unwind in style.
The cottage dates back hundreds of years and is Grade II listed, so you’ll find there’s an abundance of rustic charm throughout, with fascinating features including the trellised stone balcony, tower and a red dragon finial. Add to this the beach and mountain views and you’ve got the perfect historic seaside retreat.
Gather with your nearest and dearest in the cosy lounge with its exposed wooden beams and light the wood-burning fireplace. Big sofas ensure you can socialise in comfort, as the flames flicker away. This is the ideal place to enjoy a good book and a cup of tea or chat the evening away with loved ones over a glass of wine. The living room is also where you’ll find the big dining table that can comfortably seat your entire group, setting the scene for long social dinners that stretch into the night.
When it comes to meal prep, the kitchen is light and airy and fitted with everything you need. And, as you whip up a feast, you can make the most of your scenic surroundings through the charming sash windows.
Two further social spaces ensure there are plenty of nooks and crannies for you to retire to if you fancy a bit of peace and quiet. First up is the reading room, which has two sofas, an armchair, a log-burner and a collection of historic books. And just off the kitchen is the snug, which has a Smart TV and a choice of comfortable seats as well as a coffee table for boardgames.
When night falls, there are a selection of beautifully styled bedrooms, each with its own unique character. The rooms include a spacious king size with sea views, a cosy twin room overlooking Rhoscolyn Bay and a downstairs double with patio doors leading to the lawn and a private ensuite. There’s also a large double room with stunning sea and countryside views, as well as a cosy twin with magnificent vistas and a window seat. The beds are thoughtfully configured to accommodate various group sizes, and some rooms are conveniently located near stylish, shared bathrooms featuring freestanding roll-top baths for indulgent soaks and spacious walk-in showers.
Plas is set within a big walled garden, offering plenty of room for a relaxed afternoon of cricket or football. The front lawn provides stunning views over Rhoscolyn and beyond, best enjoyed from beneath the loggia with a sundowner in hand.
Tucked away on a private lane just above Rhoscolyn Beach (Borth Wen), Plas is ideally placed for coastal adventures, with the Anglesey Coastal Path running right at the bottom of the lane. For a taste of local life, The White Eagle is a short stroll away, a classic country pub famously frequented by Prince William. A quick drive takes you to Trearddur Bay, where you'll find some excellent foodie spots like The Stores, or head to Rhosneigr for a lively atmosphere, watersports galore and plenty of charming cafés.
