Set in the Tamar Valley on the border between Cornwall and Devon, Pentillie Castle gives you the opportunity to experience life on a country estate with friends and family. Stay in your own private castle steeped in over 300 years of history, go for a dip in the heated outdoor pool, explore the woodland gardens, and maybe even head out on the River Tamar on a stand-up paddleboard if you’re feeling adventurous.

There are 11 bedrooms to choose from in total, each beautifully furnished and with its own character. From the grand Dewhurst Suite with its luxurious four-poster bed to the pretty Coryton room which features a roll-top bath and a stunning view. Each of the rooms sleeps up to two guests and there are 10 bathrooms with most of the bedrooms featuring an ensuite. There is also space to accommodate additional blow up beds and cots in some of the bedrooms to allow for the little ones to join you on your trip.

There are some beautiful rooms throughout the house for relaxing, socialising and dining. Enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the morning room while letting in some fresh countryside air through the doors to the garden. Put your feet up in front of a roaring fire in the drawing room or head down to the cellar to challenge each other to a game of pool in the games room. In the evening, gather everyone together for a delicious dinner in the grand dining room. There’s also a large farmhouse-style kitchen where you can cook for yourselves or local caterers and private chefs can take care of it all for you.

Outside, you’ll find acres to explore and plenty to discover. Go for a dip in the solar-heated outdoor swimming pool or go for a stroll through the beautifully landscaped woodland gardens. Head down to where the boathouse sits on the banks of the river and take in the scenery while enjoying a picnic or head out onto the water on a paddleboard. In the evenings, relax with a glass of wine or a delicious cocktail by the fire pit as you watch the sunset over the estate.

While there’s plenty to do on the estate itself, it is perfectly located for you to explore Devon and Cornwall. Head down to the coast to find sandy beaches and pretty fishing villages. Go for bracing countryside walks amidst the spectacular rugged landscape of Bodmin Moor or Dartmoor National Park. The Eden Project is located just down the coast, as are the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan, both of which make a great day out.
