This beautiful 18th century Grade II listed house stands rather grandly against the effortless splendour of the Devonshire countryside. With spacious, elegant rooms and never ending original features, it’s the perfect choice for a large family gathering. With stunning reception rooms, an impressive cinema area and five acres of grounds to explore, we’re pretty sure everyone will be well catered for. And the exquisite on-site facilities - indoor pool, impeccable all-weather tennis court, adventure playground and a BBQ hut in the woods - is the icing on this rather opulent cake.
The main reception room is a beautifully light space, with sumptuous sofas, a fabulous marble fireplace and floor to ceiling windows that look out over the garden. A second reception room makes the ideal cosy snug, or, if requested, the owners are happy to set this up as a playroom for any younger guests.
The dining room is quite simply magnificent. With an 18th century antique dining table that can seat twenty people, grand windows and a large fireplace, it’s the perfect place for a truly special dinner party.
The large farmhouse kitchen is the epitome of country-chic, with handcrafted units, a marble-topped island and seating for up to twelve. And with a large Rangemaster cooker, a double Aga, two dishwashers and three fridges - large parties are more than catered for.
There are nine bedrooms sleeping up to 22 people, with three doubles and a twin on each floor, plus a bunk room with two bunk-beds, perfect for kids. The first floor doubles have sublime mahogany super king beds, whilst the second floor doubles all have handsome oak super king beds. All of the rooms are classically styled with crisp white linens, delightfully muted colour schemes and exquisite textiles.
With four ensuites, three family bathrooms and a further shower room, there are more than enough bathrooms for everyone. And all of the bathrooms are as refined as you’d expect with wooden floors, gorgeous panelling and top-of-the-range fittings.
You’re truly spoilt when it comes to entertainment too, with a luxurious cinema room that boasts large sofas, the full Sky package and a state-of-the-art projector screen. And to the rear of the room there’s a full-size professional pool table.
Outside there is a generous patio area with seating, a large pond and delightful gardens. You are also welcome to explore the estate’s grounds and shared on-site facilities. There is a beamed indoor pool (with toddler pool and hot tub), an all-weather tennis court (simply chalk your name up), an adventure playground and a magical BBQ hut in the woods that can be hired all-year round.
The local area is stunning with plenty of opportunity for some breathtaking walks, with the North Devon coastline just 15 minutes away. Choose from the surfer hot spot of Croyde beach, or perhaps head to the glorious long sandy shores of Woolacombe Bay - true bucket and spade territory. And the market town of nearby Barnstable offers independent shops, excellent restaurants and an award-winning food market.
