You’ll find Owls Nest tucked away in a meadow, surrounded by wild grasses and flowers, on a working farm in North Norfolk. This classic safari-style tent is packed with plenty of luxuries including a king size bed, a bathroom with a large bath and a woodburner to keep you cosy. The idyllic location, in the charming village of Great Walsingham, is perfect for a romantic escape to the countryside. The coast is just six miles away for days out at the beach and exploring pretty seaside villages, or you can just put your feet up at the tent, soaking up the peace and quiet, perhaps while you relax in that beautiful round bathtub.
Step inside the tent and you’ll find yourself in a spacious, open-plan living area. To one side you’ll find a deep sofa in front of the woodburner, the perfect spot to relax with a book. On the other side, you’ll find a kitchen, well-equipped for whipping up simple meals with a hob, sink and fridge. The dining table is positioned so that you can open up the front of the tent and enjoy the view as you tuck into dinner. Move through to the bedroom and you’ll find a luxurious king size bed with the canvas roof of the tent making the space feel extra cosy. The ensuite bathroom features a large, round bathtub, a real treat after a day at the beach or exploring North Norfolk’s countryside.
At the front of the tent, there’s a terrace with comfy outdoor seating where you can enjoy your first cup of coffee in the mornings or watch the sunsets in the evenings. You might be lucky enough to spot some of the local wildlife in the meadow, including hares and birds of prey. There’s also a firepit that doubles as a grill if you fancy doing some cooking outdoors. It’ll also keep you warm late into the evening and you can toast marshmallows as you do a bit of stargazing.
There’s plenty of exploring to be done in this part of Norfolk with huge sandy beaches, stately homes, sweeping countryside and charming market towns all within easy reach. Owls Nest is located in the village of Great Walsingham, home to magnificent Abbey ruins and an ancient Anglian Shrine. It’s well worth exploring the village and wandering through the charming medieval streets. A little further afield, the coastline is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and beaches, such as Wells-next-the-Sea and Blakeney, are perfect for a day by the seaside. There’s plenty of fresh seafood to try, from the classic fish and chips by the beach to some local crab and lobster. There are also several farmers’ markets where you can pick up some local produce to cook on the grill back at Owls Nest.
