Surrounded by rugged and rustic fields and pasture, with the roiling Cornish sea visible, Lower Trowan Cottage is a dreamy coastal getaway equipped with everything that you need for an escape to Cornwall. Perfect for couples, friends and families alike, Lower Trowan Cottage is particularly well suited to outdoors enthusiasts, being in the heart of the stunning Cornish landscape, within easy reach of the Coastal Path, several beaches, and the undulating headlands for which this county is celebrated.
With high ceilings, a light and airy feel, and exposed timber beams overheard, Lower Trowan Cottage stays true to its architectural heritage without compromising on modern amenities. Whitewashed walls and granite surface characterise the space, with large windows looking out over the gardens, the farmlands beyond, and of course the sea itself, gorgeous throughout the year. The floors are dark tile and hardwood, and attention to detail means that the cottage abounds in pleasing design quirks.
The master bedroom looks out over the pastures, and ultimately the sea, while a double bed is made up with pure white linen, ready for your arrival. The second bedroom is made up with twin singles, and benefits from a vista of the cottage’s gardens. In addition to a spacious open plan kitchen-dining room, with wood-burning stove, top of the range culinary equipment and a large television, there is a separate conservatory. This is the dream place to spend afternoons and evenings, watching the sun slowly set with your loved ones, as you enjoy a bottle of wine and good company.
Lower Trowan Cottage is ideally located for those looking to experience the pleasant tranquillity of a rural holiday, with the sea nearby, but the amenities and conveniences of urban life within easy reach. The closest large settlement is the iconic town of St Ives, on the Cornish coast. Cherished by artists, locals, foodies, families and aficionados of the visual arts alike, St Ives is the jewel in the crown of the Cornish art scene. Pop by the Tate St Ives to view the permanent collection and any temporary exhibitions, before heading over to Barbara Hepworth’s open house and gardens, an unmissable treat for anybody with an interest in art, architecture and botany. Afterwards, take a long stroll or paddle along the beach, before indulging in crab sandwiches at the fabulous Porthminster Beach Café. Alternatively, strike out into the cobbled alleyways of St Ives and investigate the dozens of artists’ studios and independent galleries which make St Ives the culturally fascinating art hotspot it is today.
