Set amidst the olive groves and citrus plantations of the Petrarolo Estate, this charming lodge offers a peaceful retreat for families or groups of friends looking to explore southern Italy. This safari tent-style lodge has its own swimming pool and stunning views down to the coast of East Puglia. Start the day with a refreshing dip in the pool before heading out to explore little hilltop towns, award-winning vineyards or sandy beaches of the region. Back at the lodge, relax out on the sundeck, sipping a glass of wine from one of the local vineyards and watch the sunset over the coast.
The interior of the lodge feels airy and spacious with its canvas frame divided by timber walls. There's a large living area, divided up into a lounge with comfy armchairs and bean bags, and a dining area with plenty of room for everyone around the big wooden table. The well-equipped kitchenette features everything you'll need to rustle up simple meals, including an electric cooker and a large fridge. You can open up the doors and enjoy some of the beautiful scenery while you eat or there's a smaller dining table out on the sundeck.
The lodge comfortably sleeps up to nine guests in five bedrooms. Two of these are double rooms with views of the olive trees and air conditioning to keep you cool during warm Puglia nights. There's also a twin room, a single room and a bunk room that makes a cosy little hideaway for the kids. In the stylish bathroom you'll find a large walk-in shower and a normal flush toilet. The estate has its own solar farm and only uses renewable energy sources for everything, including the air conditioning in the bedrooms and the pool heating.
Step outside to enjoy those beautiful sea views and relax by the pool surrounded by olive and citrus trees. There's an outdoor shower with hot water for rinsing off after a dip in the pool and sun loungers for soaking up the Italian sun. In the colder months, you'll still be able to stay out late into the evening with the firepit going and the stars appearing overhead.
If you can tear yourselves away from your peaceful retreat, there are plenty of activities and attractions to explore in the surrounding area. It's just 10 minutes to the nearest beach at Monopoli which offers white sands and turquoise waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing. If you fancy sampling some of the local wine, the valley of Canale Di Pirro is just 20 minutes away and offers several award-winning vineyards for wine tastings. To learn more about the rich history and culture of the region, take a short drive to Alberobello, famous for its unique trulli houses. The stunning caves at Castellana Grotte are also nearby or you can head off on a little road trip to visit the little hilltop towns scattered throughout the region.
