To stay in this traditional whitewashed Trullo is to take a step into the past. The characteristic conical stone roof is typical of these Apulian structures and Trullo San Michele has been extensively and thoughtfully renovated to retain its historic character while creating a luxurious home that is perfect for families who want a peaceful and relaxing break. The interiors are a stylish blend of tradition and innovation where contemporary, high-quality furnishings and character features combine to offer a charming and quirky living environment.
The living area and kitchen can be found within the cones of the structure and feature exposed stone and whitewashed walls, traditional flooring and arched alcoves which provide a cool respite from the heat outside. Despite the rustic simplicity, you will have all your creature comforts and a kitchen equipped with all you’ll need to rustle up tasty Italian treats which you can eat around the traditional wooden dining table.
The three double bedrooms are cool, airy and spacious with a focus on minimalism to accentuate the character of the building. Crisp white bedding invites you to relax after a day in the sun while air conditioning and central heating ensure you are comfortable whatever the temperature outside.
Outside, you can wander through almost two hectares of centenary olive groves and Mediterranean plants or chill out on the sunbeds. A patio with a large table and seating is the perfect spot to enjoy an alfresco meal or a chilled glass of wine and if it gets too hot for you, plunge into the swimming pool to cool off.
If you can bear to tear yourself away from your Puglian paradise, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do and see in the local area. The coast is nearby with its range of beaches, boat trips and excursions and there are many places of scenic and cultural interest to discover along with a world of gourmet food to explore.
Torre Guaceto is a natural marine reserve on the Adriatic Sea with breathtaking beaches and the Murgia Salentina Park is an area protected by regional laws to safeguard the olive tree forests, some of which are a hundred years old, more than ten metres high and make the Apulian countryside unique. The city of Lecce is well worth a visit as are Brindisi, Taranto, Bari and Gallipoli with its fascinating old town and castle. All of these cities can be reached within one hour.
