Lapwing Shepherd’s Hut is a wonderful rural retreat for couples that sits in the Tulliemet valley on an old shepherd’s hill track. Offering breathtaking views across Strathtay and the beautiful Perthshire countryside, this charming spot for two is ideal for your next romantic break.
Inside the hut has been lovingly decorated, wth block printed linens, hand-stitched quilts and a muted pastel blue colour palette and warm wood. There is also underfloor heating throughout so you can keep your toes nice and warm.
In one corner is a wood-burning fireplace, so you can chuck some logs on the flames and stay toasty all year round. There’s also a sofa where you can settle in with a good book and a quaint kitchenette with all the amenities you need to prepare meals during your stay.
When bedtime beckons, the fantastic bedchamber features a super-comfy king size bed tucked away at one end of the cabin. In the morning take your first coffee of the day in bed and gaze out the window at the lovely view. You also have your own private bathroom with a hot shower!
Stepping outside, Lapwing Shepherd’s Hut really comes to life. Get comfy in the outdoor chairs - the ideal place to watch the sunset and stargaze at night - and dine alfresco on your outdoor dining set. You’ll also find a firepit out here to keep you warm when the day begins to cool along with some sheep’s wool rugs. And, to top it all off, if you fancy a midday nap in the summer sunshine, you’ve got your own hammock for an indulgent snooze.
When it’s time to head out, the owners recommend exploring the nearby Tulliemet Moor, part of the Forest of Clunie SSSI. Keep your eyes peeled for ospreys, lapwings and curlews, plus deer, trout and otters. You might even spot their latest resident beavers!
Perthshire’s countryside has so much to offer. Stroll Tay Forest Park’s enchanting woodlands or take in the famous Queen’s View over Loch Tummel. Kayak across Loch Rannoch or Loch Tay, and hike the Ben Lawers range for epic views. Don’t miss the atmospheric Falls of Bruar or a visit to the historic Blair Castle.
