Located on the north-west coast of Scotland in the small crofting community of Mellon Charles, Kongeørn is a peaceful escape for couples or families. A ‘Croft’ is a plot of arable land with a house, unique to Scotland, and Kongeørn is attached to one of these. It has been thoughtfully renovated, preserving the charm of the stone structure, while modernising the interior to create a comfortable and contemporary holiday home. The house’s name is Norwegian and refers to the pair of golden eagles that can be seen soaring high above the house on clear days. It is set amidst some spectacular and secluded landscapes but with the ‘NC500’ route passing close by, it is a fantastic base for exploring the north of Scotland.

Inside, the house has a relaxed, welcoming feel, furnished in a contemporary, uncluttered style with inviting armchairs and sofas and natural light flooding in through big windows. These windows offer stunning views over Loch Ewe and out to the Torridon Mountains from the kitchen, living room and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped for a self-catering holiday and there’s also a handy utility and boot room for storing your outdoor gear and washing and drying clothes. You’ll also find a small study, providing a quiet corner just in case you need to get a few things done.

There are two bedrooms, one of which can be configured as a double, two singles or even a study with a desk and a futon. This offers plenty of flexibility, whether you’re travelling as a couple, or with friends or family. There are also two shower rooms and the whole house is heated by ultra-efficient air-source powered underfloor heating with individual controls for each room.

The house is set in five acres of private Croft land, home to a small flock of sheep, helping to continue the sheep farming tradition in the Highlands. The land is managed to encourage a wide variety of flora and fauna to flourish, including red deer, badgers, buzzards, red squirrels and those spectacular golden eagles that you might be lucky enough to spot during your stay.

Kongeørn is located in Mellon Charles, a small village in the north-west of the Highlands and surrounded by miles of rugged, Scottish landscapes. Hop in the car or on your bike and you could be at the beach, exploring forests or mountains, or discovering charming villages in 10 minutes. It’s a haven for all sorts of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to fishing. Pack up a picnic and head out to Gruinard Bay or down to Inverewe Garden to learn more about the local wildlife.

A beautiful house with beautiful views from every window. My family really enjoyed our stay. The house is spacious, bright, comfortable and well-equipped. The setting is very peaceful. The owner was responsive and helpful when we had queries. Would definitely recommend Kongeorn to anyone looking for high quaility accommodation in the Highlands.

What a very special property this is!! Stunning surroundings, perfectly highlighted through every single window/door. Spacious and well thought through layout, filled with everything you could need for the most relaxing stay, including a bed more comfortable than our own. Would highly recommend staying here, we will be back over and over again. 5 stars isn’t enough. Thank you so much!

Thank you Gregor! We have just had a fantastic week in KongeØrn. The property is exceptional and manages to achieve a light, bright and airy feel whilst also feeling homely and cosy. It couldn't have been better equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The views in every direction are breathtaking and the property is situated in an amazing location, only a 10 minute walk to an idyllic sandy beach that was great for a post walk swim! Gregor was a brilliant host, he was really responsive throughout the booking process and offered great advice about the local area which we really appreciated. Many thanks for a fab week!

What a wonderful place to stay! We booked for 12 nights, and didn't want to go home. Set in a beautiful location surrounded by wonderful views and an abundance of wildlife within the Scottish Highlands. The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the host kept in contact in case we needed anything at all. There is so much to explore within the local area and further afield. This beautiful home needs to be visited to fully appreciate how wonderful it really is. The view of the sun setting each evening on the outdoor decking area were absolutely amazing! Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we hope to visit again very soon!
