This pretty cottage makes a gorgeous romantic retreat for couples who want to hunker down by the wood burning fire, soak in the hot tub or take hikes around the nearby Lake District and Hadrian's Wall.

Wander up the garden path, through the pretty flowers flourishing amongst the sandstone paving, up to the verandah-sheltered front door. Guests will instantly be struck by the fabulous patio doors which offer views into the cosy cottage interior, but Hoglet's private location ensures that guests can enjoy their stay without being overlooked or passed-by.

Stepping over the threshold, visitors can relax in the calming open plan living and dining space before heading to the kitchen for tea and snacks. The modern kitchen has everything required to conjure up tasty treats from simple sandwiches, picnics and snacks to romantic candlelit dinners. At dinner time, uncork the wine, light the candles and dim the lights for meals at the cute circular table, positioned for guests to take full advantage of the views through the large sliding doors out to the garden.

Of course, in the warmer months, they can be pulled aside, bringing the outdoors in. There is a patio furniture set where guests can spend days listening to the birdsong and watching the bees buzzing around the colourful garden. A luxurious hot tub can be found at the end of the garden, conveniently sheltered for use whatever the weather, rain or shine.

And whether it's for early morning coffee in the sunshine or late autumnal nights snuggling on the sofa, the living area is comfy and uncluttered with the wood burning fire creating both heat and atmosphere. Curl up with a loved one and a book, or turn on the flatscreen television for movies and binge-watching.

The quiet bedroom has a beautiful bed with a pretty upholstered headboard which tempts lengthy lie-ins with endless mugs of tea. Perhaps, indulge in an early night, rest tired hiking legs and snuggle amongst the sheets and duvet watching old movies on the Smart television.

Hoglet is situated close to the fabulous Lake District and historic Hadrian's Wall, near to Carlisle. Hikers, bikers and drivers will all be treated to walking trails, roads and pathways with stunning views along the way. And, after a long day's sightseeing, or just relaxing at the cottage, there are plenty of places to refuel. Nearby Dalston has two lovely pubs, the Blue Bell Inn and the Bridge Edge Inn, which both come recommended.
