Perfectly situated just ten minutes from Dorchester, the quaint County Town of Dorset. You'll also find that you are only of few miles away from the sea and several award-winning beaches.
Everything about The Hex at Hollands Farmhouse has been cleverly conceptualised and executed to create a living space like nowhere else. It offers more space that a Shepards Hut and is more unique than a cabin. Research suggests that the shape of the space even has mental health benefits.
The owners take pride in this space. They have even ensured that your stay will benefit the environment and local community. The bathroom is twinned with a loo in Malawi, The Hex is sourced and crafted from local Dorset Oak, the hot tub runs of sawdust briquettes from a local mill, and Hollands Farmhouse works closely with local and national charities every year.
Within the main space, everything has been thought of. The oh so comfy king-size bed will allow you the opportunity for a great night sleep and unforgettable morning views. The stylish log burner will keep you warm and cosy, while for ease, radiators are also provided. Stylish décor includes a cuddle sofa where you may choose one of the board games or books to help you digitally detox.
If your relaxation includes devices, The Hex has its own excellent WiFi, along with mains electricity and USB charging points. Other opportunities to relax in your private space include a hammock, artificial grass perfect for sun bathing, yoga or reading and a wood-fired hot tub – perfect for soaking in with a glass of bubbles and admiring the night sky.
The indulgence continues outside, where a bespoke horsebox bathroom has been expertly designed to include a piping hot double shower with discreet views of the countryside, heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries.
Meanwhile, a fully equipped covered kitchen provides plenty of scope for fine al fresco dining, with a 4-ring gas hob, grill, microwave, fridge-freezer, and Kadai BBQ and firepit (on request), all adding choices to your cooking options.
For those unable to getaway without children, or actively seeking a family break, the ‘bunk room’ adjoining the main Hex, has a bunk bed suitable for children age 4-12. With its own hobbit entrance, bean-bag chill out corner, night lights, mains dimmable lights, and radiator, it is a stylish space with a very cosy and warm feel.
Between the views, the tranquility, the relaxing hot-tub, lounging in the sun, or cosying in blankets under the stars, guests often struggle to leave. For those looking to venture out, you will find an award-winning local vineyard, award winning Sculpture by the Lakes and the world-famous Jurassic coast.

Leave a reviewWe booked to stay at Hex for the last week in August. Prior to our arrival, Fiona sent out clear instructions which were easy to follow meaning we had an easy time of entering the property, the entire area was clean and tidy and very well presented. The views were fantastic, all the facilities as part of the booking were fantastic too. The location was perfect as we could visit numerous attractions in the area. We couldn’t recommend this property highly enough. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

We had such a lovely stay at Hex. Our 2 young boys loved the bunk bed room and the hot tub! It was just what we all needed. Surrounded by nature looking at the sheep and the geese flying over head each evening was just super special!

Absolutely perfect. Beautiful location and views. Very quiet. Relaxing in the hot tub at night with a bottle of Prosecco watching the stars… what could be better. Great location for day trips out too.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Hex! The night sky was absolutely breath taking and being able to enjoy it from the hot tub was definitely a plus! Fiona and Will were super helpful and even cooked our dinner for us as the oven wasn’t working during our stay. Everything was perfectly decorated and very well thought out, definitely would recommend, we wanted to stay forever!

We had a fantastic stay here for two nights. Fiona was incredibly accommodating on arrival and talked us through how everything worked. We've never stay anywhere like this before - the Yurt was beautifully designed, the hot tub ideal for stargazing and the kitchen great for cooking whilst enjoying the view. The hammock and scrabble were both put to good use too! We will certainly be back at some stage :)

We’ve have not long returned from the most relaxing 4 night stay at The Yurt. It truly was a beautiful setting with a luxurious feel. Every facility you could wish for a peaceful and lovely stay, the evenings in the hot tub were divine. Fiona and her husband were easily contactable, helpful and welcoming, yet unobtrusive, therefore felt we had plenty of privacy. All the facilities were perfect, and fire pit perfect for BBQs, the bathroom really novel and in keeping with-in the setting. Everything at the Yurt was of high quality, hammock and hot tub lovely for relaxation and views across the fields. The Yurt, is truly an amazing little retreat that Fiona and Will have created and we wish them all the best luck going forward. Thank you Kind regards from L & J

It’s an amazing, peaceful place to stay . The yurt is beautifully decorated with a huge comfy bed and wood burner, the hot tub was amazing, looking out on the country side in the day and looking up at the stars at night, all we had for company were low flying geese and nature. We relaxed on the bean bags and hamock playing scrable while taking in the beautiful countryside. Will and Fiona were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. Thank you Will and Fiona for making our stay so enjoyable. I highly recommend if you want a very relaxing, back to nature experience. We will definitely return one day xxx

My fiance and I had the most amazing and romantic break at the Yurt. It was such a unique and beautiful place. The accomodation is a very high standard and the place was so clean and tidy. The views was the hot tub, even just stepping out of the front door, were stunning. Steve and I definitely hope to come back one day and relieve the happy memories we made on this amazing weekend. Would highly recommend to any couple who asked. (In fact we do ??)

Myself and my wife had an amazing stay, needing to kick back and chill. The Yurt was really comfortable and beautifully kitted out, feeling really romantic. We really enjoyed the open kitchen and cooking al-fresco meaning we didn't need to venture out and could enjoy our peaceful, beautiful surroundings. We took full advantage of kicking back on the double hammock, taking time to relax and watch the trees and clouds float by. The hot tub was great too, having really struggled to maintain the right temperate in wood fired hot tubs, this had the natural wood feel as well as the practical well maintained temperature. Spent so much time in here at different times of the day and night, went home wrinkly! And how can I forget the horsebox bathroom. Felt like I was in an Alice in Wonderland adventure as I posted myself in through the small door to what felt like a much bigger, well equipped space than it looked from the outside. Fiona and Will were great hosts and willing to help make our stay as positive an experience as they could.

My husband and I spent an amazing weekend in the yurt. It was simply perfect - everything that we wanted, and more!! Absolutely spotless, very private and well equipped with everything that you’d need for your stay. The horse box bathroom was quirky, (which had been an attraction to stay here) but beautiful and toasty warm. Greeted by Will he made us feel at home immediately and he talked us through how everything worked. In short, if you fancy an escape to a beautifully quiet, warm and well equipped location - this is just the place for you!! Thanks

Amazing! My partner and I stayed here for 3 days and we absolutely loved it! I honestly didn’t want to leave. It is such a relaxing and beautiful place. I loved the hot tub - looking at the starts and moon at night, it was a dream. The bed is super comfortable and the fireplace makes it so so romantic. It is by far one of the best experiences we’ve had and we are looking forward going back! Love, Veronika x

My girlfriend and i stayed here for 3 nights on a lovely summers weekend and it was even better than either of us expected, coming from London we loved the privacy aspect of the yurt and peaceful location. Plenty to do and see within a short driving distance , but equally as enjoyable to just stay in the private section provided, favourite part for me was having marshmallows over the fire and hot tub under the stars. A sense of rekindled love and much needed time together after getting lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Cant wait to go back!

We absolutely loved our stay at the yurt! The luxurious feel of the yurt and the idyllic, picturesque surroundings made for a wonderful experience. Will and Fiona have created the perfect getaway complete with a hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. The covered outdoor kitchen and the converted horsebox bathroom were also fantastic! Absolutely wonderful, we can't wait to visit again!!

My husband surprised me with a stay at the yurt for my 30th birthday and I had the most amazing weekend. Everything at Hollands farm is so beautiful and well thought out, we especially loved the horse box bathroom and spent hours looking at the beautiful view from the hot tub. Fiona and Will were such welcoming hosts and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. It's safe to say we did not want to leave when Monday morning came around. This is a truly special stay and we would highly recommend. We hope to visit again in the future!

This yurt was everything and more for our staycation this year! The perfect location for many day trips around Dorchester/Dorset. It was a perfect start and end to every day being here - complete privacy but comfort knowing Fiona and Will were on hand if we needed anything. The facilities were perfect - wouldn’t have changed a thing. Perfect hot tub and hammock to relax at the end of the day… all the finer details didn’t go un-noticed, Fiona and Will have done amazingly at creating this perfect spot for a much needed break! Thank you again - we hope to come back!

Highly recommended - a tranquil hideaway in the middle of the Dorset countryside. The views from the Yurt are stunning - sunrise over the orchards on the hill opposite and 360 degree views from the hammock and the hot tub. The Yurt is beautiful - every detail has been thought about. The bed is so comfortable! The kitchen is well equipped and we loved the bathroom in a converted horse box - Plenty of hot water with a view over the hills. It's also twinned with a sponsored toilet in Africa which is a nice touch. Towels and linens are all high quality. If you want a relaxing time away where the hosts have thought of everything you might need, then look no further. You can get to the beaches easily and there are plenty of options close by for walks. However if you just want to chill out at the Yurt, then the hammock and hot tub are idyllic.

Words can not express how beautiful this place is! My hubby and I had 2 of the most relaxing days/nights here dealing only with decisions like when to eat and whether to lay in the hammock or get into the hot tub (again)! Will and Fiona were fabulous-leaving us to enjoy the peace and tranquillity but being on hand should we require any assistance. A truly relaxing, tranquil, beautiful place-we will definitely be back!

We spent 2 nights at the yurt for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was absolutely perfect in every way. Such a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place to totally unwind and switch off from hectic family life! The whole experience exceeded our expectations and the yurt and it’s amenities are even better than in the photos as is it’s position high up on the hillside with fabulous views. The yurt is stunning and huge, the horse box bathroom is brilliant and the hot tub pure bliss. Amazing stargazing, al fresco breakfasts and relaxing in the hammock and around the fire pit! The only downside was having to leave! A truly memorable stay, thank you!

My partner and I have recent returned from a two night stay at The Yurt and cannot recommend it highly enough! The Yurt is positioned in a peaceful and secluded spot overlooking rolling hills. We spent hours in the wood fired hot tub admiring the view and relaxing in the hammock. The Yurt itself is romantically lit with fairy lights and the bed was a dream to climb into at night. Being the middle of July, we did not make use of the log burner but I'm sure this makes a lovely addition in the winter. The horse box bathroom has been beautifully renovated and hot water was aplenty. Looking out at the view whilst taking a shower was definitely a highlight. We have returned feeling relaxed and refreshed and looking forward to our next trip! Thanks Will and Fiona for having us and for being lovely, non intrusive hosts.
