Hidden away in a secluded spot on the beautiful Wootton Hall Estate, this pretty stone cottage offers a peaceful escape for families or groups of friends. Located in the Staffordshire countryside, just a few minutes from the Peak District, the cottage is the perfect base for walking and cycling trips or for simply putting your feet up and enjoying the peace and quiet in the delightful garden. It was once the pump house for a Victorian country house and has now been beautifully furnished and decorated with an eclectic collection of artwork, offering plenty of comfort and character.
Step inside and make your way through to the cosy sitting room, complete with a log fire and lovely views over the rolling countryside. During the day, sunlight streams through the big windows, while in the evenings, you can curl up on the plush sofas and enjoy a film or board game. The country-style kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you’ll need to rustle up hearty dinners after long walks in the Peak District and you'll be able to gather everyone together in the elegant dining room with its large table and candelabras for long family dinners.
Head upstairs to find the three beautifully furnished bedrooms. You’ll find luxurious beds with goose-down duvets and feather pillows to sink into after a busy day’s exploring. There are two double rooms that share a main bathroom and a twin with an ensuite. Each room has a lovely view through the cottage’s original windows over woodland and open fields and you’ll wake up in the mornings to the sounds of the birds in the trees.
When the sun is shining, head out into the garden and make the most of the tranquil surroundings. Enjoy your meals alfresco out on the terrace where you’ll find garden furniture and a BBQ. Pour yourself a glass of something in the evening or simply sit back and enjoy the view.
There’s plenty of exploring to do in the local area with the Peak District on your doorstep and Alton Towers theme park just three miles away. Spend the day at Carsington Reservoir and try your hand at some watersports or have a go at trout fishing on the River Dove. Whether you prefer adventurous hikes in the Pennines or a leisurely afternoon hunting for antiques in pretty market towns like Ashbourne, there’s something for everyone.
