The Oaks is a fabulous, Narnia-inspired woodland escape that sits in a private 12-acre estate in rural Oxfordshire. Faun’s Hideaway is one of the incredible dwellings on the estate, which offers couples a romantic treat in a truly magical setting. Inspired by Mr Tumnus’ Cave from the Narnia stories, this cosy bolthole is warm with whimsical touches and beautiful design features that we’re sure you’ll love.
When you enter, you’ll be transported to an enchanting time of warm lantern light and secret passages. With beautiful stonework on display, you’ll feel like your tucked away in a hidden slice of a mystical realm.
Sit with your loved one on the armchairs opposite the fireplace, which features a stone carved face enveloping the flames. Warm toes here as you tuck into your favourite fantasy novel, or head to the kitchen, with all of its modern amenities, and whip up a delicious feast for your stay. When dinner’s ready dine inside in your cosy retreat, or take your meals outside and breathe in that fresh woodland air as you enjoy a meal with your loved one.
Guests staying at Faun’s Hideaway will also be able to make use of some of the amazing on-site facilities, like the romantic hot tub where you can soak away tired limbs amidst bubbles under the stars. There’s also a superb woodland sauna, which offers you the perfect place to unwind whilst taking in your surroundings. You also have a tennis court and an indoor swimming pool that are bookable for your exclusive use.
When night falls, head back to the hideaway where you’ll find a super-comfy double bed, which features curtains that you can close to hide yourself away as you sleep. The hideaway also features a number of mod-cons, such as a modern ensuite bathroom and luxury underfloor heating.
If you fancy a bit of indulgence, you can spend time in the hot tub, sauna or swimming pool, and there’s also the option to book a number of beauty and massage treatments during your stay. Speak to the owners about this when booking and they can fill you in.
You can also wander the woodland estate and make use of the zipline and swings, the trampoline, the peaceful meadow, the tiki bar and the firepit for cosy evenings under the stars.
If you venture further afield, there’s lots to see and do nearby. You’re a short drive from the historic city of Oxford, with its amazing cultural spots, restaurants and bars. You’re also able to explore the River Cherwell and Shotover Park, which offers up 117 hectares of hidden valleys and ancient woods.
