Cosy cottage ideally located for exploring the Lake District and the Cumbrian coast with toasty wood burner and a large south facing garden.
Public transport accessible
Damson Cottage is nestled in a secluded spot in the charming village of Waberthwaite, close to the mountains and the sea. It would be a great choice for a family holiday or a group of friends looking for fantastic walks in stunning surroundings.
The open plan kitchen, living and dining area will be your first port of call. Drop your luggage, put on the kettle or open a bottle of wine and settle into this lovely light and airy space with wooden floors and many original features.
The kitchen is modern and comes fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a dishwasher. There's more than enough room to prepare a delicious meal which you can all enjoy together at the large six-seater dining table. Think bright sunny breakfasts and cosy candlelit suppers where you can catch up with loved ones and talk about your daily adventures.
The living area has three comfy sofas where you can curl up in the evening after a day of exploring the Lake District and the Cumbrian coast. A newly installed wood burner makes this an extra cosy space for gathering together with snacks and a movie on the Smart TV. Or if you want to completely switch off you can get comfy with a good book and read yourself to sleep with nothing but the sound of the wood crackling for company.
There's a main bedroom on the ground floor with a king size bed decked out in crisp linens and warm blankets where you can burrow in and enjoy a good night's sleep. This room also benefits from its own ensuite with shower. The remaining two bedrooms are on the first floor which has vaulted ceilings and wooden beams throughout giving you a glimpse of its previous life as a barn. Both rooms have comfortable double beds with equally luxurious bedding, and plenty of storage in two wardrobes.
In the morning you can enjoy a long soak in the family bathroom, or hop in for a quick shower before heading down for breakfast.
Back on the ground floor there's a utility space with a washing machine and tumble dryer where you can keep on top of your muddy walking clothes, line up your wellies and store your food and refreshments in the large fridge-freezer. Make your first coffee of the day and, if the weather permits, throw open the patio doors and head out into the garden to take in the morning air from the furnished patio area. Or maybe just enjoy a stroll around the garden, which has a small stream running through it.
The cottage is the perfect base from which to discover the Western Lake District fells and there are some wonderful coastal walks too. Bring a bike and enjoy the many cycle paths or just strap on your boots and head to England's highest peak, Scaffel Pike, or its deepest lake, Wast Water, both within easy reach. And for a leisurely stroll head to one of the nearby beaches like St Bees Head with its hidden coves, or the vast expanse of Silecroft.
The village has a wonderful butchers that has been making the famed local Cumberland sausage for 175 years so be sure to stock up and enjoy a BBQ in the sunny garden during your stay. There's an excellent local inn, The Brown Cow, where you can enjoy a well deserved pint and a good meal after a big walk, and the local village shop is well stocked.
