Series of handcrafted off-grid yurts set in a peaceful woodland clearing near Bath, perfect for a rejuvenating rural retreat with friends or family.
You’ll find the Chief’s Den tucked away in a serene woodland valley near Bath. It’s made up of three handcrafted adjoining off-grid yurts and set in a clearing, immersing you in nature. Wake up to the sounds of the birds and the rustling of the wind in the tree and head out to the sun-deck to enjoy your breakfast outdoors. Get stuck into the activities on offer, such as wild swimming in the nearby lake, paddleboarding on the River Avon or heading off on a guided foraging walk. In the evenings, rustle up some dinner in the pizza oven before gathering around the firepit to share stories and plan the next day’s adventures. The fact that these yurts are entirely off-grid means you can relax and unwind away from all of the trappings of day-to-day life.
The Chief’s Den features two bedrooms, comfortably sleeping up to five guests. The double bedroom features a luxurious king size bed and there’s an additional rollaway single. The other bedroom can be set up as a twin or with another king size bed. Both cosy rooms will be ready and waiting for you with fresh crisp sheets and wood burners to keep you toasty on chilly evenings.
You’ll find the living and kitchen space between the bedrooms with glass doors that lead out onto the sun-deck. Here, you can relax on the sofa with a fire crackling away in the wood burner and soak up the scenery or you can whip up something delicious in the kitchen. There’s a wood-fired cooker, gas hobs and a solar-powered fridge to store your supplies. Eat at the lovely wooden table indoors or head outside to enjoy your meals on the sun-deck amongst the trees. And for an added slice of luxury, you and your loved ones can make use of the fabulous on-site sauna whenever you wish!
If you venture a little further into the trees, you’ll find several more yurts, log cabins, a cob roundhouse and a shepherd’s hut with shared facilities that make up a little eco-village. Some or all of this accommodation can be booked along with the Chief’s Den for larger groups of friends or family looking to get a little closer to nature.
There are plenty of activities on offer in and around the woods from yoga sessions and massages, to woodworking workshops and forest bathing with an experienced guide. If you fancy venturing a little further, head down to the canal and hire a boat for a leisurely day on the water. Or you can hire bikes and cycle alongside the water to the charming town of Bradford-on-Avon. Head the other way into the city of Bath and wander the Georgian streets, visit the Roman Baths or enjoy the view from the rooftop pool at the Thermae Bath Spa.
