Cark Manor is a huge, grand home in the stunning Cumbria countryside, offering groups of up to 22 guests a luxury place to stay. Cark Manor has a plethora of marvellous social spaces, a fabulous cinema room and extensive gardens just waiting to be explored.
The manor offers a uniquely relaxed atmosphere, distinct from other venues. Whether you prefer the main lounge bar, the cosy cellar snug with open fires or the calming drawing room, you'll find your luxury home away from home.
The drawing room offers exquisite furnishings, including a great grandfather clock and a massive bookcase from the renowned Gillow’s of Lancaster. Unwind here or in the large orangery, with comfortable seating for quiet moments or alfresco dining from the BBQ or pizza oven.
Head down into the cellar and visit the snug, which was recently renovated and features a splendid open fire. Enjoy the original jukebox, the pinball machine and the classic 1950’s Coke machine. Also in the cellar is the cinema room, which has plush leather chairs and a 90’’ screen, offering the ultimate spot for watching movies with up to 10 people comfortably.
For your culinary needs, the manor offers two kitchens. The domestic kitchen features superb Miele appliances, including steam ovens and an Aga and adjacent is the commercial kitchen, well-equipped for preparing large meals for your group.
Dine in style in the spacious dining room, which accommodates up to 20 guests, making it an ideal setting for both breakfast and intimate evening meals. In the winter, the roaring open fire enhances the ambiance for entertaining your guests. Additionally, during the day, this room transforms into a versatile space, suitable for meetings with full conference amenities, including a projector and screen.
The manor has ten magnificent bedrooms that offer deluxe furnishings, pristine ensuite bathrooms, huge TVs and stylish decor. Each room guarantees a fantastic night’s sleep and some have luxurious, modern freestanding bathtubs for indulgent soaks. Included is the Summer House, a charming self-contained cottage with one double room near the main house, perfect for anyone looking for a little extra privacy. For an extra cost you can also hire the Gatehouse, a stunning traditional, single-level lodge with kingsize bedroom, located at the entrance of the estate.
Guests are also welcome to explore the vast gardens, which feature a winding pathway that encompasses the entire manor, complete with designated stopping points for taking in the picturesque views. Cark Manor is also home to an outdoor hot tub, where you can relax and unwind in style and there's also an alfresco kitchen with a BBQ, fridge and sink for outdoor cooking.
You can leisurely stroll along the well-maintained perimeter of the estate, which is home to a fantastic pod, which offers a 20-seat sanctuary offering breathtaking vistas of the rolling hills and countryside. During the winter, stay cosy with the heater and plush blankets, while you relish your favourite beverages and unwind by watching a movie or an event on the expansive TV screen. In the summer, the owners remove the covers, allowing you to embrace the outdoors from the comfort of the pod.
Cark Manor sits in the incredible Cumbrian countryside, a short drive from both the coast and the breathtaking Lake District National Park. You and your loved ones can venture out and explore the winding coastlines, pretty beaches and charming seaside towns that Cumbria has to offer. You're also nicely placed to visit the wonderful village of Cartmel, which is a gem of fine dining, delightful shops and wonderful scenery. Cartmel also offers some lovely walking routes and the famous Simon Rogan restaurants, one of which is a Michelin star restaurant called L’enclume. The famous sticky toffee pudding is made here too!
If you head north, you'll be in the Lake District in no time. Here you can visit some of the UK's most inspiring scenery, charming towns and breathtaking vistas. Windermere, located nearby, is encircled by towering mountain peaks and quaint villages. Among these villages is Bowness-on-Windermere, home to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, where contemporary exhibits celebrate the renowned children's writer. To the north, you'll find pathways that guide you to Orrest Head, a hill offering panoramic views of the lake and the majestic fells stretching into the distance. Additionally, there are the enchanting Holehird Gardens, featuring a rich collection of alpine plants, heathers and shrubs.
