This majestic Victorian manor, and charming rustic cottages are set against the rugged beauty of the Caledonian Forest’s Scots Pine, making for a true Scottish getaway.
The main property at the reserve is Alladale Lodge. This property has been meticulously refurbished by Laura Ashley, and is a grand but traditional Scottish home with bags of character. Features such as a billiards room, open fireplaces and a sauna provide the perfect way to relax after a day exploring the spectacular mountains and lochs of Alladale Reserve.
Sleeping up to 14 guests in seven bedrooms and with a whole host of fantastic extras such as a gym, gorgeous dining room and even a board room, the Lodge is worth exploring in its own right. Each of the seven luxurious en-suite double bedrooms has been furnished to emphasise its own unique character. The regal communal spaces, such as the drawing room, featuring a baby grand piano, and the dining room with its antler chandeliers, are cosy rather than imposing. All seem to invite you to relax in front of a roaring fire with some fine whisky in hand.
Alladale Lodge is equipped with a commercial kitchen which is manned by a private chef and staff. Maxime Vercruysse is on hand to provide you with delicious and comforting food throughout your stay. Ingredients are sourced locally or even grown on site. Look forward to hearty stews, freshly caught fish and decadent desserts.
Guests may also wish to stay in one of the smaller cottages at Alladale Wilderness Reserve. Eagle's Craig sleeps up to eight guests in style, and is an ideal spot for families looking to escape to this part of Scotland. It has a large attic room that sleeps four, as well as two double/twin rooms both with en suite wet rooms (including baths).
The second cottage on offer is Ghillie's Rest, which is an intimate Highlands retreat for four. Small families or groups of friends can use this charming cottage as a base to explore the local area, before cuddling up in front of the fireplace for a cosy evening in. This cottage has everything you need for a classic rural break, with comfy furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen, a BBQ, and those all-important impeccable views of the surrounding scenery.
Alladale Wilderness Reserive is located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands in the Alladale Wilderness Reserve. 90 minutes north of Inverness, you find yourself in 100 square kilometres of nothing but breathtaking scenery. The landscape is taken over by forests, rivers, lochs and mountains, allowing visitors to really experience the Scottish Highlands. Alladale's rangers can take you out for spectacular guided hikes and teach you about the wildlife and history of the Reserve.
If simply exploring the stunning landscape isn’t enough, there are a wide range of activities available in the local area. Visit a local whisky distillery, or even go dolphin watching. Try your hand at some countryside pursuits, such as clay pigeon shooting, or embark on a ranger-guided tour. All before heading back to Alladale Lodge for a delicious meal and an evening in front of the fire.
