Now this is how you do a Palm Desert holiday. At this classic 50s style villa, we have to start with the garden. In its centre, a saltwater pool and spa, flanked by comfy loungers and overlooked by swaying palms. There’s a pond with koi carp silently gliding under its glassy surface and, if that wasn’t relaxing enough, a canopied daybed – pull the billowing curtains together for an afternoon snooze in the sun. The summer kitchen awaits, ready for vibrant alfresco meals to be eagerly shared around the outdoor dining table.
Inside is just as impressive. It’s all walls of glass and funky designs – we loved the acid orange and lime green four-poster bed. The communal, open-concept spaces are trendy yet inviting, particularly the seating area, where you’d find us on the cool desert nights sharing a bottle of wine.
And that’s all without mentioning the location. Your home is a breezy twenty-minute walk to El Paseo, home to world-class restaurants, shopping and stunning hiking trails.
Palm Desert offers some of the same fabulously relaxing amenities you’ll find scattered throughout the cities of the Coachella Valley. Think emerald green golf courses, epic mountain views, sparkling turquoise pools and alfresco dining to boot.
Palm Desert has a bit more sprawl to it than Palm Springs, with long and wide streets seemingly stretching into the desert horizon. The most energy you might expend here may just be a leisurely stroll through the shops at El Paseo, proclaimed to be the “Rodeo Drive of the desert”.
