The Longhouse is a gorgeous, restored 17th century longhouse that is packed full of rustic, rural charm. This beautiful home offers groups of up to six guests a marvellous stay in the Powys countryside allowing you and your loved ones to relax and unwind in peace.
Substantially restored, the home still retains much of its character thanks to original features, such as the inglenook fireplace, flagstone floor and the series of apotropaic witch marks put in place many years ago to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune during your stay.
The social hub of the home is the amazing living room, with its low ceiling, thick stone walls and roaring fireplace. Get comfy on the big sofa beneath a lovely blanket and enjoy an evening tipple long into the night. There’s also a couple of wonderful armchairs next to the fire, so you can put your feet up and stay cosy with a good book.
When the weather’s warm, however, you’ll want to venture outside onto your private covered outdoor space. This is a fab spot to whip up delicious local produce on the BBQ and dine alfresco whilst taking in the view. When the sun begins to dip, be sure to light the fire pit and get warm by the flames as you watch the stars come out up above. There’s even a hammock for mid-afternoon snoozes in the sunshine. You can do all of this with the peaceful stream babbling behind you.
Back inside, the property’s modern kitchen features contemporary Miele appliances ensuring you have all you need to prepare delicious meals during your stay. This space also features a farmhouse style dining table, ideal for mealtimes indoors when the weather outside is cooler.
When night falls, the home’s delightful bedrooms feature ornate wooden floors and yet more exposed beams, filling them with old-world charm. There are two super-king size beds by Harrison Spinks and one twin room. One of the super-king beds can be arranged as a twin if required, offering you plenty of flexibility. If you fancy resting tired muscles after a day exploring the area, hop into the deep, freestanding bath tub for a long indulgent soak before bed.
When it comes to entertainment during your stay you can pop outside and challenge your loved ones to a game of boule, or if it's raining, grab one of the board games and settle down in front of the fire. There is also a selection of DVDs for you to choose from or you could enjoy a movie night on the Smart TV.
If you venture out and explore, you’ve got 320 acres of re-wilded land at your doorstep, home to pedigree Hereford cattle and rare Eriskay ponies. Wander through ancient hedgerows, new woodlands, wildflower meadows and wetlands. Guests enjoy private trails across the farm, nestled in a secret corner of Wales at the foothills of the Cambrian mountains. It's as stunning as the national parks, but with fewer crowds, in what’s been called “the last wilderness of Wales".
Venture beyond The Longhouse to discover miles of untouched footpaths and bridleways, offering everything from gentle nature walks to immersive wilderness treks.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 3 nights high season
