This stunning cottage was once a gate house and retains all of its original charm and character. Surrounded by peaceful countryside but only a 10-minute drive from glorious sandy beaches, The Lodge would be a wonderful romantic getaway for a couple, a young family or four friends wanting to discover all that the East Neuk of Fife has to offer.
The whole cottage is on one floor and you'll love the cosy open plan living area and kitchen at the centre of which you'll find a toasty wood burner set into a red brick fireplace. A comfy sofa and chairs with a low coffee table provide a lovely spot to curl up with a good book on a chilly afternoon. And in the evenings you can come together and watch a film on the 32” Smart TV with the burner keeping you all warm and cosy.
The kitchen area is spacious and modern with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher to save you the work. There's also a washer dryer so you don't need to pack too much. A breakfast bar with four high stools provide a great spot to enjoy a meal together or, if the weather permits you can step out into the pretty garden and settle in at the table on the terrace with a coffee and the sound of the wild birds to welcome you.
There are two spacious and elegant bedrooms decorated in soothing pale tones with pretty art on the walls. One offers a king size bed, the other twin beds, both made up with crisp linens and warm duvets so you can enjoy a restful night's sleep. Both of the bedrooms have their own ensuite facilities with strong showers and a toilet. After your morning shower you can head back through to the kitchen and prepare breakfast before planning your day.
The cottage overlooks Gillingshill Reservoir and the local nature reserve, a lovely place to have a walk, particularly if you bring your dog. Feel free to explore but do bring some boots as there are no footpaths!
You might like to visit Kellie Castle and enjoy some cake in their tea rooms, or go on a longer four-mile walk to the old harbour village of Pittenween which is utterly charming. You can watch the boats landing their catch and buy some fresh fish for dinner too. Fife Coastal Path is a wonderful way to see the area and will take you past caves, coves, dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches. St Andrews is only a 20-minute drive away and a very popular tourist spot with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy.
