Charming, stylish and contemporary barn conversion in the Scottish Borders that's ideal for your next rural retreat.
Repurposed / renovated building
Enjoy a relaxing break in the Scottish Borders with your loved ones at The Bothy. This cool and cosy barn conversion was once home to animals and farm machinery. However, it has been loving converted into a modern, contemporary holiday home, that still has that all-important rural charm thanks to exposed beams and double-height ceilings.
The stone-built cottage is filled with natural light, particularly in the giant open plan living space. Here guests can socialise together whilst taking in their natural surroundings. Big windows let the outside in, and stylish, comfy furnishings make relaxing in the evening a joy. This room also has a log burner to keep you cosy all-year-round. The lounge area also has a widescreen HD TV with Freeview channels, a bluetooth speaker, and there is super-fast WiFi broadband throughout the property. But do bear in mind that you’re in rural Scotland - so weather-related internet issues may arise.
The large open plan living space also features a nice dining area, with room for six, and a modern kitchen with all the appliances you’ll need. The kitchen comes equipped with good knives, a microwave, a cooker, a fridge, a full-sized dishwasher, artisan crockery and cutlery, wooden boards and interesting serving dishes. Guests are also provided with a number of essentials from olive oil, salt and pepper, to Nespresso coffee pods, tea bags and a range of cleaning products.
The mezzanine bedroom is tucked up in the eaves above the kitchen and looks down over the living area. This room has a comfortable kingsize bed, which is able to be split into two twin beds if required. There is also a twin room that is situated in the old pigsty. This space, however, is super-comfy and makes use of grey Egyptian cotton linen and cosy wool blankets. The twin room also leads through to the shower room, that comes with fluffy towels and spa-style products.
The outdoor space at The Bothy is fab. Not only do you have your own private walled garden - the perfect spot for your morning coffee, but you can also venture out and explore all of the grounds at Dod Mill. Here there are ducks, owls, heron, otters, a pond, rivers, sheep and woodland within a few meters of your cottage. Go for a stroll and help yourself to apples, plums and hazelnuts from the orchard when the season is right, or forage for brambles, watercress and elderflower.
The Bothy is situated in the marvellous area of the Scottish Borders near the boundary with the Lothians. Therefore you can explore the amazing natural scenery all around, or pop over to Edinburgh for a day of culture, great pubs, and fine food. The English border and the county of Northumberland are also within easy reach!
