Located on the shores of the Isle of Skye, overlooking a natural harbour and the Sound of Sleat, this stylish cabin is perfect for a peaceful escape. Enjoy the spectacular views through full-height windows while snuggled up on the sofa with a fire crackling away in the log burner. Early starts in the morning will be rewarded with breathtaking sunrises over the mountains of Kintail and Knoydart in the distance. Spend your days exploring the surrounding landscape, known as ‘the garden of Skye’, or head further north to charming fishing villages and the bustling town of Portree. In the evenings, put your feet up and stargaze in some of the darkest skies in Europe where the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye.
The cabin has been designed and built with the environment in mind with the turfed roof helping it blend in with the rugged natural landscape and the interior offering plenty of comfort while having minimal impact. There’s a split-level living space with full-height windows stretching the width of the room, filling it with natural light. On warmer days, slide open a section of these windows and step straight out onto the decking to enjoy the uninterrupted views in the sunshine.
The fully-equipped kitchen features everything you’ll need to cater for yourselves, including an induction hob, double oven, dishwasher and plenty of room for supplies in the larder fridge. If you need a bit of time to yourself, there’s a cosy study with a window desk and a selection of games, books and DVDs. There’s also a handy boot room where you’ll find a freezer and a washer-drier for any muddy outdoor kit. This is also where the BBQ is stored for those warmer days when you can cook outside while enjoying the view.
There are two bedrooms, comfortably sleeping up to four guests. One of these bedrooms overlooks the water with more of those enormous windows allowing you to soak up the view from the comfort of your bed. This room can be set up with a super-king size bed or with twin singles and has direct access out onto the deck. The other bedroom has a luxurious king size bed and an ensuite shower room where you’ll find locally-produced soaps. There’s also a separate bathroom with a walk-in shower and a bath where you can relax after a long walk.
Outside, there’s a deck that wraps around most of the cabin so you can sit out in the sunshine or find a bit of shade at any time of the day. Step down into the garden, which slopes towards a picnic table with beautiful woodland on one side and views out over the water. You’ll also have easy access down to the shore via a garden gate and if you’re lucky, you might spot some of the native otters and pine martens.
The cabin is located in Sleat, in the south east of the island surrounded by wooded coastline and rolling farmland. Head to Armadale Castle where you can discover some of the local history and explore the beautiful gardens overlooking the Sound of Sleat. To enjoy more of the island’s spectacular landscapes, go for scenic walks along the coast or head a little further north to the enchanting Fairy Pools where you can brave a dip in the water flowing down from the mountains. Hop on a boat trip to spot seals and dolphins or head inland to tackle some of the mountain trails. For a change of scene, drive north to the town of Portree where you’ll find some great restaurants and shops. There are also some hotels within walking distance of the cabin where you can enjoy a drink at the bar or go for dinner if you don’t fancy cooking.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
