Charm and luxury combine at Tenuta Cammarana, an historic Italian country house with stunning views across the island of Sicily. Once the estate of Antonio Sortino Trono when it was built in 1778, it is now a beautiful holiday retreat.
There are 3 different styles of room to choose from at this 5 star bed and breakfast. The standard rooms come complete with a king size bed or two single beds, a private bathroom with toiletries by Malin e Goetz, tea and coffee maker, air conditioning, and WiFi. The comfort rooms are larger and some can accommodate a third bed upon request. They have amazing views across the gardens and have the same amenities as the standard rooms. The junior suite is located on the first floor and has 2 double bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms. Accompanying this is a large lounge with fireplace and bookcase and an outside terrace with seating and views across the estate.
Breakfast is included with the stay and there is a selection to suit every need. Smooth Italian coffee can be accompanied by brioche or home baked bread and cakes for those with a sweet tooth, or perhaps a freshly prepared omelette with salmon, or ricotta cheese would suit. For those who prefer a healthier breakfast, there are juices pressed from the fruit and vegetables in the garden, honey from the bees, yoghurt, and herbal tea.
After breakfast why not take some time out to enjoy a book or a newspaper in Tenuta Cammarana's library, alongside a coffee or maybe even a glass of Sicilian wine? Alternatively explore the spectacular gardens at the house, with antique roses in Spring and lotus flowers and bougainvillea during the summer. Beyond the concealed wall of the garden is the surrounding countryside, with its ancient prickly pear bushes and gardens of its jasmine, bearded iris and hollyhocks.
The house is perfectly located for exploring the region and taking excursions to Ragusa Ibla, with its labyrinth of lanes, sun-drenched piazzas, and its amazing history - from the neo-Gothic palace of Castello di Donnafugata to the 18th Century cathedral Cattedrale di San Giorgio.
