Three luxurious, eco-friendly properties near Ambleside, perfect for exploring the Lake District with friends or family.
Time sensitive - don't hang around...
You’ll find Riverside Terrace in a picturesque setting at the heart of the Lake District just outside Ambleside. You have the choice of three eco-friendly properties, designed to blend into the landscape and minimise their impact on the environment. The properties feature floor-to-ceiling windows revealing the stunning scenery and have log burners, underfloor heating and luxurious contemporary furnishings throughout. The location, on the Stepping Stones Estate once owned by the Wordsworth family, is perfect for exploring the Lake District. Hidden away at the foot of Loughrigg Fell by the river, it feels as though there is no one else for miles around, however, you’ll find that Ambleside is just minutes away, offering the best of both worlds.
Each of the properties has its own unique character but all feature full-height glass walls to the front and rear so that you can immerse yourself in the surroundings. The windows also allow you to enjoy the views over the River Rothay and the nearby fells and maybe even catch a glimpse of the local wildlife. These properties are also some of the most eco-friendly in the Lake District. They have a green living roof and the exterior walls have been faced with Lakeland green slate sourced from nearby Coniston so that they visually blend into the landscape. The floor to ceiling windows are double glazed and the underfloor heating and hot water are provided by air source pumps. The water is supplied from a natural spring and even the carpeting in the bedrooms has been made from Lakeland Herdwick sheep wool.
Each of the three properties, Waterside, Rivers Edge and Viewpoint, have entrance porches with plenty of room for muddy boots and coats after a good Lakeland walk. The hallway takes you past the two ensuite bedrooms and into the open plan living area which benefits from those fabulous views thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glazing. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen with a dining area overlooking the Lakeland scenery and plenty of space for you to relax in comfort. The underfloor heating will keep you cosy and the designer log burner creates a romantic atmosphere in the evenings. There’s also a terrace where you can sit and take in the beautiful views with a morning coffee or perhaps an evening cocktail. If you’re around as sunset or sunrise, you might be lucky enough to spot deer, otters or maybe heron.
The location means that you can explore any part of the Lake District you choose. There are walks to suit all abilities accessible straight from the doorstep, from long walks among the fells to strolls along the river. You could also explore on a bike, on horseback or even hire a boat and take to the water. There’s some fantastic food on offer with anything on the menu from a bit of tea and cake from a cafe in a Lakeland village to spectacular dinners at Michelin awarded restaurants.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 3 nights low season & 7 nights high season
