High House Retreat is the perfect getaway where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life and reconnect with nature. Located on a farm in North Yorkshire, complete with private views overlooking the Cleveland Hills, the eco-friendly credentials and simplicity of this home will provide the ultimate in relaxing breaks without compromising on style or comfort.
This renovated shipping container is home to artwork and design that is influenced by the local area. Its contemporary, open-plan living space features bespoke furniture and floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors which open out from the stylish bedroom and the seating area to overlook the expansive farmland and beautiful scenery.
You’ll find a welcoming log burner to keep the space cosy whatever the weather outside and a huge comfy sofa to curl up on with a book and appreciate the far-reaching views. There is a selection of books and games provided for you to choose from so you can travel light!
The well-appointed, one-of-a-kind kitchenette has been handcrafted on the farm from locally sourced materials and you will find rustic touches throughout which are sympathetic to the rural surroundings. There is no WiFi or television so you'll have the opportunity to spend quality time with your companion or just enjoy the peaceful solitude. A modern shower room with contemporary copper fixtures, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries adds a touch of luxury.
Outside, a large decked area with seating provides the perfect vantage point to make the most of outdoor living and to add an extra special dimension you will have your own wood-fired hot tub where you can chill out and luxuriate with a chilled glass of wine while gazing at the stars.
High House Retreat is perfectly located to explore the beauty of Yorkshire. It is also a stone's throw away from local village pubs, restaurants and shops, and the town of Darlington is also close by. If you fancy a day at the seaside, Hartlepool, Whitby and Scarborough are all within reach too.

Leave a reviewWas absolutely blown away buy our stay at the High House Retreat. Absolute secluded bliss with so many beautiful little touches - the hosts clearly care a lot about their guests feeling truly special! Stunning views and complete privacy, with the added bonus of being minutes away from Kip and Nook, a private social space that you have access to as part of your stay and well worth a visit if you're feeling more sociable (or just can't be bothered to cook!). Really can't speak highly enough and I know we'll definitely be back!
