Set in the quiet Norfolk countryside you’ll find this gorgeous Tudor Hall which dates back to 1478. Thanks to an award-winning restoration effort, earning first prize from the Campaign to Protect Rural England, the estate now provides luxurious holiday accommodation or offers a destination for celebrating special occasions. Sleeping up to 25 guests in 13 bedrooms across four buildings and surrounded by six acres of private gardens, the estate is perfect for big gatherings of family and friends.
As you step inside the estate’s magnificent main building, Hales Hall, you’ll find the ground floor is perfect for entertaining. As well as the grand dining room, comfortably seating 14 for dinner, there's a library, a drawing room and a 40-foot kitchen. The kitchen has been expertly kitted out for catering to large groups with a double Aga, additional gas hobs and oven, two dishwashers and two sinks. Head upstairs and there is more living space in the music room, complete with a baby grand piano.
The sleeping accommodation is split between the main Tudor hall and its outbuildings, including The Gatehouse, The Cottage and The Garden Rooms. You’ll find seven of the bedrooms on the first and second floors of Hales Hall. They all have their own unique character thanks to the carefully selected furnishings and the eccentricities of the 500-year-old building. All of the rooms have their own ensuite bathrooms with showers or fabulous roll-top bathtubs.
There’s cosy accommodation for two in The Gatehouse with its own kitchen and sitting room, perfect for a quiet moment away from the action. Upstairs, you’ll find an antique four-poster bed and a freestanding bathtub below a stunning chandelier. The Cottage sleeps up to five guests and might suit a family with two double rooms and a single. This charming country cottage, with roses framing the front door, also has its own kitchen, sitting room and a private walled courtyard garden. The estate’s stable block has recently been transformed into The Garden Rooms, two stylish double bedrooms with fantastic views across the gardens and moat.
There are also six acres of beautifully maintained gardens to explore. Wander past topiary hedges, beds bursting with flowers and the lawns, which are perfect for a game of croquet or cricket. Sit out on the terrace while enjoying a BBQ or take a picnic down to the pond.
The estate is located in the Norfolk countryside but is within half an hour of Norwich’s historic city centre. The unique beauty of the Norfolk Broads is also on your doorstep and you can explore the ancient waterways by boat or wander along the footpaths and soak up the scenery. The coast is also nearby with the sweeping beaches of Norfolk and Suffolk within easy reach. Take a trip out to Southwold’s iconic pier and beach huts or go and visit the seals up at Horsey Gap.
