Located in a quiet courtyard just off Dolgellau’s main square, this delightful stone cottage is the perfect base for exploring Snowdonia National Park. With its period features, colourful vintage touches and modern conveniences, you’ll feel at home as soon as you walk through the front door. The cosy cottage has been stylishly refurbished with a brand new kitchen and bathroom, offering contemporary comforts while still retaining the charm of its Victorian history.
Downstairs, the cosy living space, with its comfortable chairs, colourful cushions and local ceramics, provides a welcome retreat. Here you can warm up in front of the atmospheric wood burner effect electric stove and plan your days out with the help of the provided local maps or snuggle up on the sofa to watch the TV. There’s also a dining area with a table for three.
If you’re not eating out in one of the local pubs or restaurants, the cottage’s modern kitchen, with its sparkling tiles, wooden worktops and butler sink, has everything you’ll need to rustle up a feast. Here you’ll find cooking utensils, a full-size oven with electric hob, microwave and dishwasher. Also on the ground floor is the contemporary bathroom with a bath, overhead rain shower, WC and hand basin.
Climb the steep stairs to the first floor and you’ll discover the cottage’s two comfortable bedrooms, sleeping three people. The double room has a delightful bay window, offering views across the slate rooftops of Dolgellau to the hills beyond. This peaceful space also boasts a deep mattress, crisp cotton bed linen and colourful, upcycled bedside tables. The single bedroom is beautifully light, thanks to a large window looking out onto the listed stone building opposite, and has plenty of storage space.
Outside the front door you’ll find a stone seat which is the perfect vantage point from which to sit and watch the world go by. And when you’re ready to explore the town, you’re just a few steps away from Dolgellau’s main square. With its narrow streets, friendly pubs and fabulous cafes and restaurants, the traditional market town is a wonderful place to wander. There are also numerous walks on your doorstep, taking in the spectacular mountain landscapes of this unspoilt area of Snowdonia National Park, and the beaches of Fairbourne and Barmouth are just a short drive away.
