In the remote fishing village of Elgol on the Isle of Skye is the luxurious Coruisk House. Mixing traditional charm with modern style, this beautiful Scottish getaway also benefits from stunning views over the Sound of Sleat to the Knoydart mountains beyond.
This intimate B&B has four rooms to choose from, each with a rustic chic design and antique furniture. There are two suites which each have a sumptuous king size bed with fine linen and bathroom with a freestanding bath to relax and unwind in. There are also two en-suite double rooms, with all options sleeping up to two guests.
Those staying are greeted with a glass of prosecco upon arrival, which they are welcome to enjoy in the cosy sitting room with its day bed big enough for two in front of the wood burning stove. The hosts also live in Coruisk House and share it with their guests, meaning it has a homely and personal touch that keeps people coming back year after year.
There is also the critically acclaimed restaurant on site which serves up amazing food that showcases an array of Skye ingredients. It is particularly well known for its fish courses, with the island surrounded by waters brimming with treats such as lobster and lemon sole.
Situated at the end of the dramatic road through the Red Cuillins and Strath Suardal, Elgol is a hamlet on the shores of Loch Scavaig. Its harbour is only a short distance away from Coruisk House and is a great spot to see wildlife such as dolphins, puffins, and basking sharks.
There are plenty of opportunities to get out on the water as well, with boat trips on offer from the harbour. A popular and recommended excursion is going across the lock to the glacial Loch Coruisk in the shadow of the peaks of Black Cuillins. There are also hikes along the coast and into the mountains.
