This lovely listed cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard and would be the perfect cosy getaway for a family or group of friends seeking a holiday in a beautiful Dorset town.
Enter through the blue door, hang your coats, pop the kettle on, light the wood burner and settle down in the delightfully cosy living room with its comfy sofas and eclectic furniture. The walls are adorned with pleasant local art and the light streams through the two windows, one of which is a round little portico adding an extra layer of charm. As you unwind from your journey you'll find the host has provided lots of books, guides, maps and even some cookery books for the designated chef of the party.
The kitchen is compact and modern with a butler's sink and everything you'll need to make use of those cook books. There's a pretty window seat where you can enjoy a glass of wine with the view of the garden. A separate dining room provides a perfect space for lazy suppers with bench seating and another little window seat.
The bathroom is also downstairs and has a very luxurious feel with tiled walls, twin sinks, heated towel rails to keep things warm and a fabulous, large walk-in rainforest shower where you can indulge in a long hot shower after a big country walk.
All of the bedrooms are upstairs and you'll be spoiled for choice. Two are king size, one of which can be made into a twin if required, and there's single room with a Queen bed, and are all painted in soothing neutral colours with a simple décor, crisp linens and duck feather pillows and duvets promising a restorative and peaceful night's slumber.
In the morning head down for a hot shower and a cup of coffee. If it's sunny you might like to eat breakfast at the dining table in the beautiful courtyard garden which is full of flowers in the summer months. There's also an external utility room with a washing machine.
Beaminster is listed as one of Conde Nast Traveller's 'Best Places to Go in the UK & Ireland' for 2024, and this pretty town has much to offer. Explore a network of countryside footpaths extending in every direction or hop in the car and discover some of the many National Trust beaches that Dorset has to offer. West Bay is the nearest, only eight miles from Blackbird Cottage, and is famous for its stunning cliffs. You might also like to visit Hive, Seatown and Eype, all of which have something different to offer.
For meals out the hosts recommend The Ollerod, a short walk from the cottage, which is a boutique hotel offering a fabulous Sunday roast. Brassica is stylish eatery in the town centre with its own deli, and if it's cake you're after, pop into Cilla and Camilla Cafe in The Square, where you can sate your sweet tooth or enjoy a big breakfast only five minutes from your own little slice of heaven. Seatown has a fantastic seaside pub called The Anchor Inn which is great for alfresco dining with a view.
Afterwards head back to Blackbird Cottage and play some board games or snuggle up under a blanket in front of the fire and make use of the LG smart TV for a movie night or box set marathon.
