This collection of incredible treehouses offer couples or groups of three or four an idyllic and spectacular place to stay in a breathtakingly beautiful part of Norway.
Perched high among the trees, Woodnest offers a one-of-a-kind escape with amazing views over the stunning Hardangerfjord. Imagine unwinding in a luxurious treehouse, surrounded by panoramic vistas of snow-capped mountains, as the sun dips below the horizon. At Woodnest, you’re not just in a treehouse; you’re in a cocoon of comfort and serenity, where you can truly relax and reconnect with nature.
Designed by the visionary Norwegian architects at Helen & Hard, Woodnest redefines what a treehouse can be. Each treehouse is ingeniously crafted so that the tree itself, with minimal external support, bears the structure’s full weight. The living tree becomes the heart of your retreat.
With interiors dressed in rich black alder wood and exteriors seamlessly blending into the forest, these treehouses evoke the organic beauty of a Norwegian pine cone, or “kongla.”
Inside, you’ll discover handcrafted furnishings, meticulously created by Norwegian artisans at Eikund, paired with sumptuous fabrics and thoughtful touches of luxury. Every detail reflects the owners’ commitment to quality and sustainability. Enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep in a super-comfy bed before waking up to the amazing views. Take your first coffee of the day beneath the duvet and gaze out of the huge windows that lie at the foot of the bed. Underfloor heating ensures you’re toasty whatever the weather and fibre-optic WiFi means you can stay connected during your stay.
The original treehouses all sleep up to four guests, making it ideal for small families or groups of friends, whilst the Mountaintop Treehouse sleeps two people, so is perfect for couples on a romantic retreat. It's worth noting that the hike to the Original treehouses is around 20-35 minutes while the hike to the Mountaintops takes 30-45 minutes. The Mountaintops also include a wooden hand-carved bathtub and a bed that is lowered from the ceiling when you want to turn your treehouse into a bedroom for the night, which is why the price is steeper for the Mountaintop treehouses.
The treehouses all make use of eco-friendly products, ensuring that your stay is as sustainable as it is unforgettable. From the architecture to the amenities, every aspect of Woodnest is a testament to the owners’ respect for nature and dedication to supporting local communities.
