Nestled in the rolling countryside on the outskirts of the spectacular Peak District, The Green Cottage is a relaxing retreat for families or groups of friends. The building is over 200 years old but stood empty for many years before being lovingly restored by its current owners. Much of the original rustic charm of the stone cottage has been preserved while adding plenty of contemporary style, modern luxuries and eco features. Relax in the garden enjoying the beautiful views and fresh air or put your feet up in the cosy living space after a busy day exploring. In the evenings, gather around the firepit with a mug of hot chocolate and do a bit of stargazing in the dark countryside skies.
Step inside and you'll find a welcoming interior furnished using natural materials and tones that celebrate the character of the original building and connect you to the rural location. Sections of the stone walls and huge timber beams have been left exposed and are complemented by a stylish wooden staircase and the materials used for the impressive kitchen.
The huge living space features a comfy lounge at one end with big sofas and floor-to-ceiling windows letting in plenty of natural light. At the other end, you'll find the fully-equipped kitchen with its spacious island and sleek appliances that make cooking a breeze. Choose between eating at the breakfast bar, at the dining table or step out onto the terrace on warm summer days and enjoy your meals outdoors.
Head upstairs to find the three bedrooms, all furnished in a contemporary style with soft lighting and neutral tones that create a relaxing atmosphere. There are two double rooms, both equipped with luxurious king size beds and one with full-length windows so you can enjoy the view in complete comfort. The third bedroom is a cosy twin room with comfy beds tucked under the eaves of the cottage, creating a great hideaway for the kids.
Located on the edge of the picturesque Peak District, there's plenty of exploring to be done near the cottage. Start with a trip into the historic market town of Ashbourne and discover its charming streets filled with independent shops, cafes and traditional pubs. If you want to get stuck into some outdoor activities, the national park beckons with its stunning hiking trails, cycling routes and opportunities for spotting some wildlife. Go for hikes along Dovedale Valley or the Tissington Trail, or even try activities like rock climbing and horse riding. For a bit of culture, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within an hour's drive, or you might simply prefer to relax in the garden back at the cottage.
