This seven bedroom holiday home blends history with modern comfort creating a timeless getaway. With stunning gardens and a private path with access to a delightfully deserted beach, this property is an idyllic retreat for large groups, reunions or a big family get together.
Whilst the Coach House is only a few metres from the hosts' home, it has been designed with privacy in mind and has its own entrance and an enclosed garden exclusively for guests. The building is in an L shape maximising views south to the sea and flooding the house with wonderful coastal light throughout the day.
There's a very large open-plan kitchen and dining room decorated in white and yellow creating a cheerful environment with two large windows on either side allowing the sun to stream in. You can seat 14 at the large dining table, or lounge at the kitchen island and watch the designated cook attempt to make bacon sandwiches for the hoards. There's a well stocked pantry and the kitchen comes fully equipped with two ovens, a large fridge with a small freezer, a double drinks fridge and an ice machine.
The living room is also open plan and combines a games room with table tennis and a bar (complete with glitter ball!) and three comfortable sofas where you can enjoy a movie night with a glass of something delicious.
In addition to six large bedrooms with super-king sized beds (some of which can be unzipped into twins if required) there's also a rather marvellous bunk room which has two bunk-beds and some single beds, ideal for a group of children wanting a proper sleep over. All of the rooms have luxurious en-suite bath and shower rooms with the master bedroom boasting a freestanding bath tub, and all of the sumptuous bed linen is provided by the Secret Linen Company. The 'Vintage Rose' room on the first floor also has French doors leading out to a balcony that runs half the length of the building and is a delightful spot for watching the sun set.
If you fancy dining al fresco there's a private garden terrace with a large outdoor table seating ten and a BBQ. There's a very pretty pond here too, but it's un-fenced so be mindful with children. You'll also find a spiral staircase leading up to the aforementioned balcony. You'll be given access to the owners' tennis court if you fancy a game but the piece de resistance is the private path leading down to a fairly deserted shingle beach where you can spend your days swimming, napping or reading without the usual crowds.
The Coach House is part of Norton Priory in the very sleepy village of Church Norton, only four hundred yards from the beach and six miles south of Chichester. The area offers a wide and varied stretch of coastline and is close to Goodwood.
If you're a seafood fan you'll be in heaven. Selsey, on the southernmost tip of the peninsula, is famous for its crab, which can be bought directly from the fisherman on the shore, or try Potters (near the lifeboat station), a family run business who catch and prepare everything themselves. Pre-order a seafood platter to take home, or just enjoy the most delicious crab sandwiches on the beach. The Crab & Lobster at Sidlesham is just a few minutes' drive away where you can enjoy delicious seafood alongside an interesting wine list, in a relaxed environment. There are lovely views from the terrace and garden. Find breakfast and lunch with a relaxed surf vibe at Billy’s on the Beach, at Bracklesham Bay, or fun family dining at the Boulevard Café in East Wittering.
For a city day, head to Chichester which offers a lively cultural scene, galleries, the world-renowned Chichester Festival Theatre, and a wealth of fascinating Roman history. The Goodwood Estate has a plethora of events to attract visitors during the season, from horse-racing to motor sport, and has a golf-course, health club and aerodrome too.
